IDENTITY
• Sex – a label, usually male or female that was assigned
by a doctor at birth based on the genitals a person is born
with and the chromosomes they have. This is found on
one’s birth certificate.
• Gender – a social and legal status, and set of
expectations from society, about behaviors,
characteristics, and thoughts of being a man (usually a
male) and a woman (usually a female).
• Gender identity – is the innermost concept of self as
male, female, a blend of both or neither. Identity can be
expressed through clothing, behavior, and personal
appearance.
