1. Group Meeting:
What we discussed in the meeting:
1. Characters
2. Costumes
3. Location
4. Editing and Music Software
5. Storyline, Storyboard, Casting
6. Responsibilities within the group
1. Characters
As a group we decided on their being only two characters in the clip. The main character
being a young girl (teenager) and a villain who we only see small parts off. We also decided
that Kirsty (who is part of our group) will be our main character because we don't want to
have to rely on others to turn up for filming.
2. Costumes
The main character will be wearing a red shirt dress with a pink and white poker dotted
headband. We decided this in the meeting because we want the colours to represent youth
and danger. The villain will be wearing black trainers, blue/black hoodie and black trousers.
We thought we would go very stereotypical of a villain because there is no speech in our
thriller, making our thriller all about visualising and putting together the clues yourself.
3. Location
We have based our thriller around nature as it represents innocence, it also represents the
loss of innocence as nature and flowers can be easily damaged. There are three different
locations, however it is meant to look like the two characters is in one place. One of the
locations being used is a field/ forest this was decided as it can show the contrasting
atmospheres. The three locations used were: Crystal Palace park, Kelsey Park and our
school grounds.
Editing and Music software
We decided that we would use the editing software of Final Cut Pro on apple mac computers
and Garage Band for making our own unique music for our thriller opening.
4. Storyline
This was the hardest point to discuss in the meeting because we really wanted to put
together something that it going to engage the audience into watching. In the end we
decided that the storyline is that there is a young innocent girl that has her whole life been in
a witness protection program as her parents had been murdered by this serial killer, however
the killer was in prison and has now managed break out to get his revenge. The young girl
believes she’s safe until the time she goes into the woods. The girl survives in the end and
manages to escape this violent, vicious and vindictive murderer revealing his identity to the
audience (which is her brother). However we are not going to show all of that, we have
decided to show short shots that give hints and clues of what is going to happen for example
we will see the young girl enter the forest to get a balloon, we then see the killer (her bother)
hold a sister necklace… it swings in the air as he holds it, we also revisit where they used to
play as children e.g. the swing set.
2. Group Meeting:
5. Responsibilities
There are four of us in our group so we need to distribute the amount of roles equally.
Myself and Shannon, have filmed the majority of the opening with the help of Oliver and
Josh. We all decided that we want to have a role in editing the film, however it was me,
Shannon and Oliver who will edit. Josh and Oliver are in charge of music and making it fit
with our thriller film. My job is executive producer and Shannon’s job was to be the director
of the film.
