1. Dear Hiring Manager,
It is without any hesitation that I can wholeheartedly recommend Kim Dillon for the position she is
applying for. I supervised her for more than four years and in that time I considered her a key player in
my district team; she is highly responsible and conscientiously strives for the highest results possible.
Kim develops strong lines of communication with her team and inspires them to meet and exceed goals
set forth. Furthermore and most importantly, she is the consummate role model, always setting a good
example. She equips her team and sets them up for success by investing in their training from the
onset. She stays consistent in her goal setting, and also coaches and redirects when support is needed.
She developed an “employee of the month” reward program which I adapted for the whole district and
we continue to use it.
Kim has a true passion for serving her customer. She develops relationships, and they return to the
business because of the connection that she fosters. She takes an entrepreneurial approach to her
business makes decisions to continually build customer loyalty.
In the area of merchandising she is adept. She is equally as comfortable using guidelines and tools
provided to plan the visual presentation, as she is monitoring reports and making reactionary
merchandising decisions to drive business.
In the business model that we operate in, we are faced with many obstacles that are beyond our control
and many times they work against what Lands' End strives for. Without fail, Kim remained true to who
we are, what we expect and worked creatively to work towards solution. She was courageous in
addressing issues with counterparts who might be on her level or levels above her own job grade. She
did so respectfully and was resolute.
With her employees, she is clear in communication, supports them, and is fair and tough in her
expectations. She innately understands that retail is a “people” business. She values her team, shows
appreciation in her actions and small gestures that resonate with each of them. The team members she
has left behind here, still ask about her and would work for her at any point in their professional careers.
Her relationship with me as her leader, was one of the highest integrity. Kim is direct, honest, and
always has the business at the heart of her decisions. She ran her shop at the highest level and beyond
that knew how it contributed to the District team at large.
She is invaluable to me and if I ever had the opportunity to have her on my team, I would not hesitate to
have her join me.
