2. Technological use
• The production of making my final products has incorporated lots of
technological programmes and device use. Since the preliminary task, my
school invested in a software package called Serif PagePlus X8 – we found
this to be a good investment in order to improve our overall design
production than our former package – Microsoft Publisher whereby we
felt the finished look of our short task products did not have the realistic
look of a real-life publication.
• Serif had many tools which made editing photos in production much
easier – such as colour transparency, filters, colour refill and boarder
application. The only drawback into investing in a completely new DPS
package is that the users within my class were not sure of navigating
around the software making the first few weeks of use difficult and more
time consuming than expected – as well, instillation onto our school
server took two weeks before we could start magazine production. This
DTP also allowed greater creativity in my design through some of the
standard graphics Serif offers – such as the freebie sell line and
promotional sell lines on the double page spread.

6. Technological use
• To use on my magazine throughout, a good quality camera was needed to
capture high resolution and effective photographs – suitable for resizing and
cropping at a later stage. A main focus in my photography was to represent the
genre and audience through capturing the natural element of the mise-en-scene
through lighting – I feel this was harnessed effectively for the front cover main
image, in particular. Using a camera independently in this process has further
developed my knowledge and awareness of shot angle and composition.

9. Technological use
• The blogging process used to reflect my research/planning and production
journey also used computing technology. To add variety to the way I presented
this work – I invested more time and effort in experimenting with new online
presentation websites including Popplet, Emaze and SlideShare. Using these
online technologies have impacted my time management and general will to
explore new technology ideas.
