The student learned about the media industry and magazine publishing process through constructing their own magazine. They developed skills in image manipulation using Photoshop and PicMonkey, and learned about camera settings and angles. The software used helped advance the student's Photoshop skills beyond a basic level, including how to remove backgrounds and highlight figures.
1. What have you learnt about
technologies from the process of
constructing this product?
2. • The research and creating my magazine itself has taught me a vast majority about the media
industry and publishing houses. I learned that there are certain publishing houses for
different sectors of magazine types and how to advertise and create marketing that could
entice an audience to buy your product. It really made me realise how varied and vast the
production of a magazine really is and how much time and thought goes into a magazines
single issue.
• I have learned a great amount about technologies whilst constructing this product. I
developed my skills on image manipulation using photoshop and picmonkey. I have also
learned the different settings on a camera and what is more useful for which desired angles
you would like and whats effective.
The software I used throughout the construction of my magazine has enabled my skills to
develop mainly in the production of photos and the abillity to use photoshop on a more than
basic level which is the level I originally started at before the product. One of the skills I have used
is how to take away a background or emphasis a figure or image using high lightening and
brightening tools.
