16. ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES OF AN OFFICIAL
ONLINE NEWSPAPER.
Advantages Disadvantages
Stories are believed and are usually more
popular
Journalists don’t have as much freedom
to write what they want to.
Can be distributed in many different
ways: print, TV, online etc.
Most companies are very much biased by
what the conglomerate wants them to
write.
18. ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES OF A CITIZEN
JOURNALIST ARTICLE
Advantages Disadvantages
The writers have more freedom to write
what they want to write.
Not as many people will read them as
they are not official providers, so less
people will read them or trust them.
The writer can focus on trending topics,
recent events and what they want to
write.
They are only distributed online.
There will usually be less bias as they are
not under the influence of other
companies
19. COMPARING THE STORIES’ DISTRIBUTORS
Similarities Differences
Both the distributors are hyping the return of Linda Hamilton to
the movie franchise, which makes it a good thing.
The Guardian distributes news using printed methods
(newspapers) unlike Outer Places which is online only. This
means The Guardian is more popular than Outer Places as it is
more distributed, this means it is easier to find and
Both the distributors use online methods of distributing news (a
website and social media).
The Guardian gives more detail about the topic, but instead of
sticking to the topic, it goes off to explaining the entire movie
franchise.
Both articles will appeal and attract to a niche audience. Outer places sticks to the point and keeps the article short but
easier to get the information from. Whereas The Guardian’s story
is also really long.
The Guardian is owned by a bigger company which means that
they will be biased by the big company. This makes Outer Places
better as it is independent.
The journalists that write for The Guardian will not have as much
freedom as the writers for Outer Places.
The Target Audience for Outer Places are the people into science,
science fiction and discovery. Whereas The Guardian newspaper
targets a well-educated, relatively young, predominantly male
and liberal audience centred around London. Fifty-two percent
of Guardian readers are male, and the average reader age is 44.
20. EXPLANATION AND ANALYSIS OF BOTH ARTICLES.
• There doesn’t seem to be any apparent bias, other than they want to make
out that Linda’s return is a good thing. The guardian however also wants to
get across that the terminator saga is quite complex and confusing and some
of the films are not very good. This is different from the other article and most
of the article because they strayed off topic of it being directly about Linda to
keep the audience interested and to give the audience a better
understanding, Warner bros most likely asked them to do this. The target
audience for this article would be the same as the target audience for the
terminator movies, to appeal to the fans of this films and the audiences who
enjoy action, thriller and SYFY; this means the target audience would be 15+.
