● Today’s consumers often make choices based on “whether the product
represents an exciting new concept- a desirable experience”
● The Modern Traveller - today modern travellers are turning their backs on
what they see as contrived, almost make believe, vacation destinations. The
modern traveller wants to discover authentic places, regardless of whether it
was a tourist hotspot.
● With this in mind all tourism providers need to work hard at differentiating
themselves in a crowded market.

A total of 385 exhibitors attracted 22,900 visitors to the
show.
So many people told us that; “they had already been
to our part of Donegal, loved it and had every
intention of revisiting”
Cycling and especially walking routes were another
common topic of interest.
We were able to give away a different prize package
each day thanks to the generosity of Inishowen Tourism
members. Over the 3 days we had 423 competition
entries.
7. Visitor Services Stats
● We have increased our Visitor Footfall to both offices at
Carndonagh & Buncrana by 7% from the previous year
(2015-2016)
● There were over 7,000 visitors seeking advice on what to see
& do in Inishowen.
● The valuable service provided by Inishowen Tourism was
recognised by the visitor and rewarded with the 5* Trip
Advisor Award.
● Emerging markets were identified as China & Australia with
strong markets from Germany & France up by almost 50%
on the previous year (2015-2016). A full breakdown of the
markets are assessed in relation to marketing campaigns for
this year (2017-2018)
13. Inishowen Content Marketing
● The times of creating a website & leaving it
for a year are all but gone.
● ITS will work with 2017 members to agree
the goals of your individual businesses & the
needs of your target audience.
● ITS will tailor memberships to meet your
needs. In 2017, there are clearly defined
packages which deliver increasing levels of
