May 1, 2013,
Greetings to you!
This letter serves to recommend Kerri R. Mercer in the areas of higher education administration,
research and evaluation, assessment and teaching. Kerri worked for me as a student researcher at the
National Initiative for Leadership & Institutional Effectiveness (NILIE) from 2008-2010. In that role she
conducted qualitative and quantitative research studies to assess employee satisfaction at community
colleges across the U.S. She became proficient in a number of statistical software packages as well as
survey design and implementation.
As fellow doctoral students at North Carolina State University, I had the opportunity to present at
conferences throughout North Carolina with Kerri. Together, we presented on such topics as leadership,
organizational theory and change, climate satisfaction and organizational culture. Kerri was always well
prepared for our presentations and used creative ideas to present complex data in an easily
understandable format.
As a student worker, I watched Kerri manage the competing interests of work, studies and family with
ease. She is an extremely organized and detailed individual and her ability to multitask and succeed at
numerous endeavors simultaneously made her a great asset both in work and on school related projects.
I could always count on Kerri to do more than her share and to do it with excellence. Kerri is the epitome
of a team player.
I’d also like to take a moment to recommend her for her sense of integrity, character and ethics. Kerri is
an honest and straightforward individual whom you can put confidence in to take seriously the
assignments you give her. She is a good person, a strong scholar and a conscientious worker. I can
recommend her for a position in the aforementioned areas without reservation.
Respectfully,
Dion Terry
