The group shot scenes for their film project at their editor's apartment. They filmed scenes of two main characters doing their morning routines in different areas of the apartment. The documenter's main responsibility was directing the actors and helping with lighting and sound equipment between takes. They used various cameras including GoPros to capture different angles. Things went well because of their preparation and the actors' memorization of lines and costumes. However, they encountered minor issues like an injury from a fridge door and difficulty mounting a GoPro in the bathroom without the proper suction cup. Their next steps are to review footage, do some editing, and plan filming of a gym scene.
2. What did we shoot/edit/work on today?
Today we are shooting the morning routine with our two main characters
Mike who plays Soap and Mustafa who plays Kapkan. Its located in the
apartment building of our editor Gruvin. We are using a bedroom and
two separate bathrooms. We are also using the kitchen and dining
room.
3. What were your specific responsibilities?
My responsibility was mainly directing the
actors. My group and i discussed what we
envisioned the scene to look like and I did my
very best to direct them. I talked to them before
we shot the scene on what i expect them to do,
what they did right and what they should
improve. After scenes I talked to them on what i
want them to do in the next scene. However,
even though I was the director I did help in
other areas such as lighting and sound. Once i
was done with giving directions I would hold the
lighting for particular scenes and manage the
sound recorder.
4. How it went
We used a Nikon and Canon
camera to shoot certain scenes
however most of the scenes
shot on day 1 was by Gopro,
this was mainly because we
wanted a wide effect. The
cameras we used were easy to
handle and control, and allowed
us to film effectively.
We used lighting equipment
whilst filming because we filmed
at early parts of the morning
and as the day went on the
natural light would change and
so the lighting was very useful.
5. What went well
We had most of our research and planning with on us the day of the
shoot. This was good as the duration of time was smooth and
organised. Their was never a point where we were lost, we knew
what we wanted to shoot and how to shoot it.
Another important thing that went well was the actors, they came to
set dressed in correct costume, hair and make-up. They memorised
their lines and were very prepared to play their characters.
6. What problems we encounter
We faced a miner accident when one of our members, Annika hurt
her finger because it got slammed by the fridge door. It was miner
so no need of a first aid kit however, there was no first aid provided
to start with. This was irresponsible of us to not have a first aid kit
and will be priority to have it next time we shoot.
Another problem that we encounter whilst filming the bathroom
scene was we didn't have a GoPro suction cup to place the GoPro
on the mirror so instead we used tape. However it made it harder to
place the camera correctly making sure it was in the right angle and
lastly to press the buttons.
7. What do we plan to do next
Our plan is to re-watch our footage in order to see if anything
needs to be filmed. We’d also edit the footage to see how it would
look as a whole scene. My group and I next step would be to start
filming our next scene which would most likely be the gym scene.
