3. Music Campaign
A Music Campaign is a way of promoting an artist or bands
music using several different aspects to do so, also
furthermore enhancing their success.
The package has a combination of website, album and CD that
will together promote the album and help the artist exceed
success.
4. Target Audience
The Red Hot Chili Peppers are a band who produce American Rock
music.
Assuming their genre i’d say that there target audience would
reach out to people within the age of 15-30 as their music range
within American Rock varies, more specifically due to their
heavy music with curious lyrics, I think men would more commonly
listen to them than women.
5. Unique Selling Point
I think that Red Hot Chili Peppers have a unique selling
point, they have a unique taste in music and appearance,
their edginess is individual to any other artist and it’s
what draws specific audiences to them. Their songs have
influences from psychedelic, punk and hard rock with hints
of rap which makes their music completely different to any
other.
6. The Three Products
Their three features that make up their campaign is their
website, digipak and music video, as individuals the three
don't correlate in the fact that they all have something
within them that links, although their website does contain a
big image of their album cover and the colour palette on
their website is similar to that of the album.
The concept of them all individually are quite peculiar and
unique making them different and attractive to audiences.
7.
8. The Three Products Differences
The three products have different aspects to them, so their
few music videos published from their album The Getaway are
dissimilar and don't correlate to the album cover, as the
music video is them playing as a band, while switching to
girls skateboarding while they're album cover is of a young
girl walking besides a bear, yet you could argue that the
colour scheme is very similar.
While looking at the website their website contains bees
within a beehive moving across the screen, while this is very
different to both their other products for their campaign.
I think that there is no need for them to correlate all their
campaign as they think outside the box and are a very
creative band that need to express their creativity.
9. Ideology
The band themselves aren't classed as normal, they have a
unique identity and style so audiences may possibly think
highly of them for not needing to act normal and can be
themselves, which may possibly help people relate to them on
a deeper level. Their peculiar style is what makes them who
they are and the fact they think outside the box and are can
be classed as “crazy”.
10. Dyers Star Theory
One of Dyers theories that I think can relate to the band is the fact they are
both ordinary and extraordinary in the fact that they are quite normal people
whom live a normal like yet have a talent like no other that makes them
extraordinary.
They're band who are incomplete and although they're pretty much consistent
with their music and appearance, their music and craziness has changed as
they’ve aged and gotten older they're perhaps not as crazy as they once were.
The one theory of Dyers that I don't think applies to them is the fact that
artists have to be both present and absent, yet as the band don't keep up with
social media and are very lowkey about their personal lives they stay absent,
yet as they're so iconic and well known as soon as they release an album they
still get success and a great quantity of audiences as they dont consistently
release music so as soon as they do there is a hype about it.
In other terms they may be present in some ways as their merchandise,
including posters and clothing may mean they are present in some people's
lives.
11. Overall
I believe their campaign is overall hugely successful, looking primarily at
their website, the layout of it is creative and different which will attract
audiences, on the other hand their expressive way of thinking alongside their
appearances allows audiences to connect with them and give fans confidence to
be themselves. This is an aspect presented in all their works within the
campaign, which personally I think is inspiring and works hugely.
Their album cover again is peculiar as it doesn’t follow a stereotype or isn't
what we’d expect to see of an album cover, as it consists of a girl walking
down a grungy road alongside an odd mix of animals.
Lastly their music videos are unexpected and random, proving their imagination
but also lunacy which to the audience is amusing and engaging.
