CONVENTIONS

2. IN THE TEETH OF JAWS
The interview set up uses the rule of
thirds, where the interviewee is framed
on either the right or the left side of
the screen, therefore following the
conventions. Also the eye-line of the
interviewee is looking off to the side of
the screen.
The mise en scene is relevant to the topic
of the interview or anchors their positioned
relevance to the topic. Just like here the
poster from the movie Jaws is used as the
background when interviewing the
producer. The questions that are being
asked during the interview are later edited
out.

3. IN THE TEETH OF JAWS
The camera shots that are usually used
during interviews is a close-up, medium
close-up and sometimes even and
extreme close-up. There are graphics on
the screen with the name of the
interviewee and their relevance to the
topic.
Cutaways are used to avoid jump cuts.
With the use of A-roll to B-roll footage. For
example A-roll footage would be the
interview and B-roll footage would be the
cutaway which is relevant to what the
interviewee is saying, which allows to
smoothly avoid jump cuts.
