HIV is a minimal virus that can cause
AIDS. AIDS is not a disease in itself but a
syndrome. It reduces human's natural
immunity to fight other diseases. Any
opportunistic infection due to gradual
decay of immunity, i.e. from common
cold to common cold, to diseases like
pleurisy, tuberculosis, tuberculosis,
cancer, becomes easy and difficult to
treat and even death of the patient.
Might be possible.
 This is why AIDS testing is important. Only with AIDS
testing can the infection be definitely detected. AIDS is a
kind of infectious disease that is a serious disease
occurring from one to another and third to another. The
full name of AIDS is 'acquired immune deficiency
syndrome' and is spread by a type of virus called HIV
(Human immunodeficiency virus). If someone has HIV, it
is not necessary that he also has AIDS.
AIDS is caused by HIV virus, if the virus is treated in time,
then the risk of getting AIDS becomes work.
AIDS COUNSELLING- According to W.H.O aids counselling is
confidential dialogue between patient , a counsellor or case
provides aimed or inability me patient to cope with stress. So,
to make personal decisions related to HIV infection and aids-
morbidity & morality
Counselling of HIV /AIDS is an interaction of
information exchange skill acquisition emotional
support b/w me counsellor. The person infected with
HIV& other significant to the client who include family
member, friends, health promotions and people who
give spiritual support.
The interaction is directed at meeting the physical,
psychological, social ,economical of client enable them
to attent optimal physical ,mental & social health
counselling.
Counselling not only as is people who already have
infection of cope with consequence problem but also
evaluate the risk of HIV transmission to prevent
further infection.
Counselling in HIV & Aids mean giving information
facilitating risk behaviour & providing unconditional
emotional support to people effected.
Reason for specialized counselling
AIDS counselling is different from other form of case . The disease is
not only health problem with diverse consequences for individual
but equally a problem for family& society. It is also associated with
intension & progressive human suffering which arise diverse
emotional reactions.
MILLER& BORE (1991) The conscience about whether
AIDS will develop with their family and friends will
reject the person effected.
AIDS counselling is different because the disease is
accompanied by other disease not noviciate, however,
severe; it is still s highly controversial disease with
many fact such as personal, social, political, legal &
human rights and public health aspects are involve in
coping with it.
People who should be counselled
Everyone needs counselling although from different
perspective has everyone has a role to play in care in
controlling spread of HIV. Every sexually active partners
may get exposed to sick of constructing HIV and aids that
may get individual counselling focussing on the behaviours
that put person on sick. Counselling should be for man and
women irrespective of sexual orientation, heterosexual,
homosexual or bio sexual.
It is important for people with multiple sexual practicing
unprotected sex, sexual problem of these people are drug
abuse who share injective equipment and recipient of
unscreened blood product, donate organ etc.
Counselling session must be oriented to
give information to the person infected
with HIV:
 Taking care of self the client must get to
know more about infection should be
arising in adopting attitude, believes and
actions which will protected body immune
system.
 enhancing improving and modifying
nutrition as necessary.
 promoting physical fitness and stress.
 avoiding substances events and actions that threatened
the body.
 seeking and give support for welfare
Before counselling the counsellor must be taking
following issues in mind:

 help the client understand test result.
 exploring client reaction to test result.
 discussing about spouse notification.
 making the client comfortable for follow up sessions.
