Sorority membership requires significant time commitments beyond social events. Members must raise money for philanthropic causes, attend multiple training sessions and national conventions throughout the year. Each sorority has an executive board that plans events and ensures smooth operations, and members must attend weekly chapter meetings. Sororities also must complete a minimum number of community service hours through various activities each semester.

1. 1.They Raise Money For Their Philanthropies
Being in a sorority it more than “partying.” While
being in a sorority, it is mandatory that each
chapter raises a certain amount of money. Alpha
Xi Delta must raise $3,000 towards Autism
Speaks a year.
2. 2.They Must Attend Multiple Conventions
Being in a sorority is some what like a full time job. Girls within their sororities are
required to attend a number of training sessions, and national sorority
conventions. Alpha Xi Delta sisters must attend two national training sessions,
and multiple conventions throughout the academic year.
3. 3. There Must Be an Executive Board Leading the
sorority
In each sorority, there is an executive board
that is in charge of that designated chapter.
The executive board is to make sure that
everything runs smoothly within the chapter,
and that events such as philanthropy events,
recruitment events, etc, are planned
accordingly. The President must sign off on all
of these duties.
4. 4.Each sorority must attend weekly chapter
meetings
Each chapter must attend weekly chapter meetings. At these meetings, the
Executive Board discusses what is going on within the chapter, and announces
any updates. If sisters miss these events without ane excuse, they could be fined
a large amount of money, or lose merit points.
5. 5. Each Sorority Must Meet a Certain Amount of
Community Service Hours
It is mandated that all sororities complete a
certain amount of community services hours.
Sororities can complete this by attending other
greek life organizations events, attending walks
outside of the community, or volunteering in other
philanthropic ways. At the University of Hartford,
Alpha Xi Delta must complete 15 community
service hours each semester.
