New Life Christian Foundation Work Together Youth Development Association.
(NLCFWTYDA)
BACKGROUND
New life Christian foundation work together youth development association (NLCFWTYDA) is
community based organization registered with Kasese District Under Registration No. 1474. Its
offices are situated in Kathoma Trading Centre Buhaghura Parish, Rukoki Sub-County.
New Life Christian Foundation Work Together Youth Development Association is a non profit
making and non political organization aimed at bringing together men and women with a major
motive of improving their family household income and well being as one of the vulnerable in
Kasese district.
New life Christian foundation work together youth development association was formed because
most the families had faced so many problems because of poverty. This had affected people with
small incomes that would not meet their needs. Families had broken down and children were the
most affected persons thus the organization was to bring about change.
OBJECTIVES
The objectives of NLCFWTYDA are listed below;
 Poverty alleviation among families through saving and initiation of projects that generate
income.
 Sensitize the women on their rights.
 Counseling the women and men on domestic violence issues.
 Creating awareness amongst the community members on the spread, control, and prevention
of HIV /AIDS.
 To ensure that the community engages in environmental protection and management through
tree planting, recycling non biodegradable substances like polythene bags.
 Enlighten the community on national policies and health programmes e.g Family planning
and safer mother hood programmes to keep them fully aware of the development strategies.
 To advocate for girl child education in the whole Rwenzori Region.
 To advocate for the most vulnerable groups in the country e.g Orphans, Widows People with
disabilities, People living with HIV/AIDS and the needy.
 To work hand in hand with other development organizations so as to achieve the stated
objectives.
 To acquire and promote modern agricultural standards
 To promote talents through drama groups, foot ball clubs formation among the youth
MISSION
To bring together women and men into development patterns so as to improve on their welfare
and family status in society through saving practicing modern agriculture and initiating
developmental programmes that will rise the income in families.
VISION
To become one of the leading association that struggle for families’ welfare and economic
development.
TARGET POPULATION
 The direct beneficiaries are the members and the community around for they will be
market oriented.
 The children to benefit are those school going and people living with HIV.AIDS.
 Victims of domestic violence
 Civic and political leaders
 Orphans
 Women
 Needy people
PROGRAMS AND ACTIVITIES
a) Agriculture
The association has maize, beans gardens , in Rukoki Sub-County, 2 fish ponds in Basecamp
Nyakatonzi lower and a piggery project from which the members obtains income to support
the organization.
b) Domestic violence prevention
The association is aimed at resolving conflicts with in the families more especially re-uniting
the couples incase of any conflict.
The association advocates for human rights for especially for children, people with
disabilities, elderly and women.
c) Disasters prevention
Tree planting is one of the components the association is implementing among its activities
so as to modify the environment.
d) Education promotion
The association is sensitizing the parents on the value of education so as to reduce on the
increasing cases of school drop outs. Further more, it helps in identifying the pupils who
have already dropped out and they are advised to return and continue with school after
serious counseling.
e) HIV/AIDS prevention
The organization is focus at doing massive sensitization of people about the prevalence of
HIV/AIDs and informing the youth about the prevention measures
The organization reduces the effect of Stigma among the affected people through involving
them in the income generating activities and directly involving them in sensitization of other
community members on how to stay safe with the disease.
Offering of guidance and counseling services to the community members and other youth
who would feel discriminated.
Provision of measures of living positive with HIV and the use of drugs
To identify and support vulnerable groups of people such as Orphans, people with
disabilities, elderly, victims of epidemics and natural disaster such as floods and HIV/AIDs
victims.
f) Savings and credit scheme
The association has got a saving and credit facility from where members get income at a
reduced interest that help them obtain funds and for starting small scale businesses.
g) Marketing
NLCFWTYDA helps in lobbying for good prices of Coffee so that the farmers can sell at
good prices without being cheated. Furthermore, Beans, Maize, Onions, Cassava, G.Nuts
and Rice are some of the crops the association lobby prices for.
ACHIEVEMENTS
NLCFWTYDA has improved on income of members and the community
Creation of opportunities to widows and orphans
Sensitizing the community on child protection and domestic violence
Constructing energy saving stoves
CHALLENGES
Defaulters of the money from the association by members.
Poor climatic conditions such prolonged drought, hailstorm among others that have reduced the
production capacity of the produce per accre.
Limited funds to run the organizational activities since the organisation has not yet got a Donor
to support it financially.
Low levels of education among the community members which makes most of the work hard
mostly sensitization.
FUTURE PROSPECTS
The organization looks forward to introduce free HIV Counseling and testing of community
members as a way of checking their status.
The organization looks forwards to start a school in the near future probably next year (2015) so
as to promote education with in the area.
The organization is looking forward to start a poultry farm and other livestock farms such as goat
keeping so as to increase the income of the organization.
The organization is aimed at stating a saloon from where women and other school drop outs such
as girls where they will get practical skills so as to help them generate income that will
supplement their family income.
In addition to the above, association will start Youth training centre from where the youth will be
able to acquire skills
The association is hoping to start welding machine workshop so as to equip the youth with
hands on skills.
Milling machines, this will help in the processing of the food products that are produced by the
farmers so as to reduce on wastage. Moreso, it will help to create employment to the people
operating the machine.
Lobbying of more money from the money lending organizations and from Donors of which the
organization interests.
ASSOCIATION SUSTAINABILITY
The best alternative shall concentrate on the Agricultural produce of the farmers.
To identify problems faced by the farmers on their farms
The membership and subscription will help to facilitate the organization programmes
The association is aime d at lobbying money from the Donors, Local Leaders , Government,
church leaders and well-wishers.
