1. GENERAL
ANESTHETICS
This are the medicine which are use before surgery,
so you don’t feel any pain of the surgery.
(Give a state of controlled unconsciousness)
2. MINIMAL ALVEOLAR CONCENTRATION(MAC):- term which is tell
us how much GA is present(or absorbed) into the patient lungs.
STAGES OF GA:- 1.Analgesic(pain reducing)
2.Dellirium(mental illness , Avoid that stage
during anesthesia)
3.Surgical(surgery happened)
4.Paraylsis(death).
3. PRE GA MEDICINE:-1.Sedative
2.Anticholinergic
3.Antihistaminic
4.Analgesic(NSAID)
5.Barbiurate
6.benzodiazepiens
7.Antiematics
these all agents are given to the patient before the surgery.
5. Nitrous oxide- Only gaseous GA, Use in dental surgery and normal
surgery.
vesodilater
Halothane(Fluothane)- Preferred in asthmatic patient.
Mechanism of action-halothane effect attributed due to his binding to
potassium channel in cholinergic neurons also binds with NMDA and
calcium channel.
Malignate hyperthermia is side effect of halothane which is cured by
dantrolone(RYR1 inhibiter).
Thiopentone- Fastest acting GA(3 min) due to his high lipid solubility.
Mechanism of action – Increase time of chlorine channel opening at the
GABA receptors.
Laryngospasm is side effect of thiopentone and cured by Atropine.
Ketamine- Dissociate anesthetic.
Mechanism of action- N-methyl -D-aspartate receptors blocker(NMDA
blocker),unlike other GA, ketamine does not interact with GABA receptors.
6. Fentanyl- Synthetic, short acting opioid(30-50min)
Mechanism of action- Mu opioids receptor blocker which couple to G-
Protein receptor.
Neuroleptic analgesia- when make combination of
Fentanyl+dolperidol(antipsycotic) they gave Neuroleptic analgesia.
Respiratory depression is major side effect which is cured by
naloxone(opioids antagonist).
