(Teoh Jun Xiang 0322099)
Hi Ms. Sheera, for this tutorial session, I have prepared the following items,
which are:
1. 1 A3 of my getaway’s complete idea process that explains the intention, idea
and concept with relation to site
2. Floor plans that are drawn on site with site analysis on it (Scale 1:50)
3. Full section of my building showing the spaces that reflect the idea of the
getaway best. (Scale 1:50)
8. Description
The ground floor plan, together with the site analysis, shows the ground floor of the getaway in
relation to its surrounding context.
1. The purple arrows indicate the circulation of users from the main tar road into the getaway.
The placement of the entrance at the highest point allows users to assess the getaway easily.
Moreover, the stairs which follows the shape of the contour provides a smooth circulation
from the entrance to the patio or the dining area.
2. The entrance allows users to view the meranti trees on site as well as the dining area at a
single location.
3. The reception hall allows users to the upper floor (living room) as well as the lower floor
(kitchen) at a single location.
4. Benches are provided at the patio to allow users to view the meranti trees on site from
multiple directions and angles.
5. The dining area which is located near the patio allows users to view the trees while having
meals, providing a relaxing setting and mood for mealtimes.
11. The first floor plan, together with the site analysis, shows the first floor of the getaway in relation to
its surrounding context.
1. The arrows indicate the direction of sunlight which penetrates the getaway at the specific
openings made to illuminate the interior spaces.
2. The location of the living room allows users to view the meranti trees on site at a higher location.
3. The benches provided at the space in between the living room and bedroom are strategically
placed to allow the users to admire the view towards the left and right of the getaway through
the windows as well as specific openings.
4. The bedroom is designed to face the west to allow the western breeze to constantly ventilate
and cool the space. The openings also allow the western breeze to flow from the bedroom to
other spaces, ensuring that the getaway is well ventilated.
14. The numberings indicate the location of the openings on the getaway’s roof.
1. The opening allows sunlight to penetrate and illuminate the entrance.
2. The opening allows sunlight to penetrate and illuminate the reception hall.
3. The opening allows sunlight to penetrate and illuminate the living room.
