CEO Improves Team Engagement & Effectiveness
Situation:
David, the CEO of a large activity centre, was feeling burnt out and frustrated that his team never
stepped up and took responsibility. He felt he was shouldering the entire weight of the whole company
and was losing enthusiasm for his work.
Simultaneously his team were frustrated at being micro-managed and not having the freedom to
contribute to the business
Solution:
David brought the team to an Unbridled Success Retreat where each team member discovered their
preferred leadership style. Once David appreciated he could lead from behind rather than the front all
the time, he was able to empower his team members to think for themselves and make their own
decisions. The horses also taught David about the power of shared leadership, something all CEO’s
need to appreciate if they are to navigate the VUCA world in which we live and work
Success:
Six months later the team is operating more effectively, is more empowered, engaged and productive
and business performance has dramatically improved in real terms
