2. ANALYZE LEARNERS
• Students are in a 10th grade Honors English class. There a 17 students, 5 boys and 12
girls. There is one African American student and one Asian student. Three students
have ADD. Students will answer a poll determining whether they have read The Great
Gatsby; only one has.
3. MAIN OBJECTIVE
• Students will be able to comprehend and discuss the Great Gatsby by reading the
book, creating videos, doing a webquest, and with other forms of technology with 85
percent accuracy.
4. DAY BY DAY BREAKDOWN
• Day one – Students will watch a video on annotating, take a survey on whether they have already read
the book or not, discuss expectations using a character poster, and start a webquest. For Homework
they will read the first three chapters.
• Day Two – Students will create a twitter and a facebook for a character, discuss what they read, and
create a bot about a symbol in the book. For homework they will read chapters 4-5.
• Day Three – Students will download Zello in order to discuss things outside of class, students will
create a weebly, use photoshop or picmonkey to create a cover, and discuss what they read the night
before. For Homework, they will read chapters 6-7.
• Day Four – Students will create a page on wikispaces for a symbol in the book, comment on a blog
about the great Gatsby, use zello to discuss outside of class, and discuss what they read in class. For
homework, they will finish the Great Gatsby.
• Day Five – Students will create a short video of a scene in the book and present their bots.
