Written Outline for our Trailer
Classification will be shown at the beginning along with the company logo that is producing the film.
This will cut to a girl who is seen as being happy, smiling and with her friends at her house. The scene
will contain high key lighting to emphasise the girl’s happiness. They are all sat down on the sofas
and the girl explains to her friend how excited she is to have the house to herself for the weekend
whilst her parents are away on holiday. As the girl finishes her sentence a still image will flash on the
screen with the sound of a camera shutter. This will indicate that someone is watching her through
the window.
The next shot will be a pan of the unknown male’s office within his house, where all the photos he
has taken over the years are frantically scattered all over the walls. After this shot, writing will
appear on the screen advertising the film, such as a critic review from a newspaper.
This will then fade out to the girl character who is walking with headphones in. The background
music will be happy. She then looks down to her phone to text her friend that she is near the park.
Just as she replies to her friend, the music stops and it is silent. Then, an abrupt voice says ‘you have
five voicemails’. The main character frantically looks around and decides to run home with the
voicemail still playing in her ear. This will be fast paced, tense music and many different shots to
emphasise her panic.
The next shot will be the main character opening the front door from the inside. As she gets in she
shuts the door behind her, facing the door with the camera looking at her back to ensure that the
unknown man stays anonymous. The character is also heavy breathing showing the panic she was in
getting home.
The screen fades to black and silent. The name of the film then appears on screen. The font of the
name will be in a horror font to ensure that the name of the film stands out from the trailer. After
the name of the film appears there will be a quick shot of a van driving past. This will use a pan shot.
To ensure that the trailer includes fast paced editing. We will do this by quick shots of the girl
struggling and also the van door slamming shut ensuring that the audience understand the girl has
been taken. There will also be a close-up on the girls phone showing a text from her friend asking
where she is.
After this there will be a quick flash of the girl in the man’s office. The girl will be tied to a chair with
the shrine behind her. This will be a wide/establishing shot to ensure the audience understand what
is happening. After this a blurry face will appear; this will signify that the man who has taken the girl
is anonymous. As the face appears, there will be a voiceover of the man saying “if I can’t have her,
no one can.” The screen then goes black and as the release date of the film appears on screen there
will be a scream at the end.
