Semi-detailed Lesson Plan in 21st
Century Literature
I. Objective
At the end of the lesson, the students will be able to:
a. write an analysis of the literary text by highlighting the elements.
II. Subject Matter
Topic: Lyric analysis

Materials: PowerPoint Presentation and Visual Aids
III. Procedure
A. Preliminary Activities
1. Prayer
A student will be requested to lead the prayer.
2. Greetings
3. Checking of Attendance
The students will simply look at their seatmates to check if there are absentees.
5. Setting of Classroom Standards
The teacher will post pictures of celebrities at the board and the students will relate it to
their classroom standards.

The students will pass their assignment.

1. What does I am the master of my fate and captain of my soul mean? 2.

B. Motivation
Who loves to sing?
Why did you love to sing?
What is/are your favorite song/s? Why?
C. Activity
The teacher will post quotations and the students will read it. They will be asked if they agree
to the given quotations or text. They will show their perceptions about the quotes.
D. Analysis
1. What is your perception about the given quotes?
2. How will you relate it to our topic this afternoon?
E. Abstraction
The teacher will play the song entitled “Don’t cry Joni”
1. What do the vocals and lyrics tell us about the song?
2. What emotions does the instrumentation make us feel?
3. What is the message of the lyrics?
4. What values do the lyrics contain?
5. What did you like about the song’s word? Why?
6. Do you find any of the words or sentence interesting? Confusing?
7. Why do think the song writer wrote this song?
8. Is there anything in the song that reminds you of something in your life?
F. Application
The students will be group into three. Then discuss about the values that the lyrics of the song
contain. Each group must have at least one(1) reporter to share what you have discussed.

Motivation Who loves to sing? Why did you love to sing? What is/are your favorite song/s? Why? C. Activity The teacher will post quotations and the students will read it. They will be asked if they agree to the given quotations or text. They will show their perceptions about the quotes.

What do the vocals and lyrics tell us about the song? 2. What emotions does the instrumentation make us feel? 3. What is the message of the lyrics? 4. What values do the lyrics contain? 5. What did you like about the song’s word? Why? 6. Do you find any of the words or sentence interesting? Confusing? 7. Why do think the song writer wrote this song? 8. Is there anything in the song that reminds you of something in your life? F. Application The students will be group into three. Then discuss about the values that the lyrics of the song contain. Each group must have at least one(1) reporter to share what you have discussed.
