Semi-detailed Lesson Plan in 21st

I. Objective
At the end of the lesson, the students will be able to:
a. present an analysis and critical interpretation of literary text in North America
II. Subject Matter
Topic: A Rose for Emily by William Faulkner

Materials: PowerPoint Presentation and Visual Aids
III. Procedure
A. Preliminary Activities
1. Prayer
A student will be requested to lead the prayer.
2. Greetings
3. Checking of Attendance
The students will simply look at their seatmates to check if there are absentees.
4. Setting of Classroom Standards
The teacher will post pictures of celebrities at the board and the students will relate it to
their classroom standards.

1. Who are the characters in the story “Marriage is a Private Affair”?
2. What is the setting of the Story?
B. Motivation
Have you experienced being left alone in your house?
How does it feel to be left alone?
C. Activity
The teacher will show pictures and present a video and the students will interpret it.
D. Analysis
1. What have you observed in the video?
2. How will you relate it to your life?
E. Abstraction
1. Who is the author of the story?
2. Who are the characters in the story
3. What is the setting of the story
4. What is the problem/conflict of the story
5. What is the rising action and falling action of the story?
6. What is the theme of the story?
7. What losses does Emily endure in the story?
8. How does Miss Emily grieve?
9. Do you think Miss Emily grow and learn lesson from her losses?
F. Application
The students will be grouped into three. They will create a Facebook status or Tweet about the
story. They will be given 5 minutes to do it.
