11. Initial study on campgrounds, renewable energy and energy storage
12.
13. Graduation / Physics of the Built Environment PAGE 9 13-6-2011 Research question “How to develop a design concept which ensures the comfort of the occupants, and has an optimized (system) performance of an energy system with 100% renewable micro-generation technologies which has to satisfy the electrical and thermal energy demand, for an off-grid campground at Texel, in the Netherlands?”
15. Graduation / Physics of the Built Environment PAGE 11 13-6-2011 Methodology Multi-objective optimization
16. Demand Profiles / Physics of the Built Environment PAGE 12 13-6-2011 Sub question How to ensure the comfort, in terms of the availability of domestic hot water, electricity and a desirable indoor temperature for an off grid campground? Sources used; Central Bureau of Statistics of the Netherlands (CBS) Knowledge Institute for the installation technology sector (ISSO) Agency of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Agriculture and Innovation (Agentschap NL) Association of water companies in the Netherlands (VEWIN)
17. Demand Profiles / Physics of the Built Environment PAGE 13 13-6-2011
18. Demand Profiles / Physics of the Built Environment PAGE 14 13-6-2011
24. Planning Finish TRNSYS model (generation, storage, balance) Think of optimization techniques Use MODEfrontier for optimization Perform sensitivity analysis on results Do the same for 3 other campsites / Physics of the Built Environment PAGE 20 13-6-2011
25. Advice Ask your professor for some possibilities of research topics in the research group. Try to make your internship and graduation work to match. Company: start with the contractual issues on time, otherwise it can slow down your progress enormously. Research group: Make sure you have a daily PhD supervisor and not only a professor. Make sure you know the vacation schedules of your professor and other supervisors. / Physics of the Built Environment PAGE 21 13-6-2011
