 Fall 1975 – School of Management was
established.
 Spring 1978 – First doctoral degrees
were awarded by School of
Management.
 Fall 1979 – U.S. News & World Report
named School of Management one of
the top 15 “new wave business schools”
in the nation.

Mid-1960s: Founders
Building was constructed
out on the prairie.
September 1969: Temporary sign
announced the new university, located
in what was once a cotton field.

1982: Dr. Frank
Bass, creator of the
Bass Model, joined
UT Dallas faculty.
He was nominated
for the Nobel Prize.

22. MORRIS HITE CENTER ESTABLISHED
1984: Morris Hite Center was
established to encourage
research in marketing science.
Hite, who died in 1983, was a
marketing visionary
instrumental in establishing UT
Dallas. He spent most of his
career with
the Tracy Locke agency.
