1. Screenplay – Was it you ?!
INT. DAY – BENCHES
Three friends sat down outside the benches. ANNA walks off with
her other friendship group and left DAN and LIZ together.
DAN
She’s been acting different, don’t you think?
LIZ gave DAN a curious look.
LIZ
I just think she’s been making friends, you’re over-
thinking Dan.
DAN
What’s wrong now? Everything I say you seem to
disagree.
LIZ looks at DAN in a funny way. She laughs it off.
LIZ
Again, you are overthinking it. There’s nothing Dan,
don’t make scenarios up in your head.
DAN got up, not smiling and walks off to his next lesson. LIZ
rolls her eyes, sighs and mumbles under her breath.
LIZ
Silly kid, he needs to grow up.
EXT. NIGHT – CAR PARK
DAN sees ANNA is waiting outside the college car park alone. He
walks towards her.
DAN

2. So guessing you’re waiting for Jake per usual? Always
coming late, don’t you think?
ANNA
Yes, he just had work and is coming to pick me up.
Anyways, what’s up with you?
DAN
Nothing really, just saying that – he always have you waiting
for him, I mean that would put me off if I’m honest.
ANNA
Honestly, rather have you keep your words to yourself Dan. Oh,
he’s here, see you.
ANNA waves DAN a goodbye and walks off. Dan clenches his fist.
DAN’S APARTMENT
DAN sits in front of his computer. Stares at the screen and
begins to log into his social media accounts.
(FLASHBACK)
Living room
Back in secondary school year 10, the three friends sat down
together. ANNA was excited with the list of people who could
come to her birthday party. DAN felt betrayed as he wasn’t
mentioned until LIZ said so. He felt as if he wasn’t important
to her – 5 years of friendship during the time felt like
nothing. From that moment, jealousy and anger continued to build
in him.
LIZ
Hang on, what about DAN? Surely, you forgot to include him haha,
right?
ANNA slowly looks up at DAN. DAN looks to the floor

3. ANNA
Oh my god, yes! My bad, sorry Dan. I thought you would have work
on the day.
Although ANNA apologised sincerely, DAN couldn’t stop thinking
about it.
BACK TO DAN’S APARTMENT ROOM
DAN hears a knock on his bedroom door. He quickly shuts down his
computer and hid under his bed. Walks to open the door.
DAN
Good evening, are you tired? Have you eaten? Would
you like me to cook you some food?
The person gives a chuckle. DAN takes off his coat for him. He
gave a smile.
CARTIER
What’s with all these questions huh? You do take
care of me so well, as I expected like always.
DAN
DAN hugs CARTIER from the back. CARTIER turns around and smiles.
CARTER stops smiling. SILENCE for 10 seconds.
DAN
Is there something you want to speak about? You suddenly just
stop talking?
CARTER
I don’t know and I don’t understand what you are doing to ANNA.
Yes, I admit that before you got back from college, I came
earlier and saw the poster. What is this all about? It’s - it’s
horrible for a human being to do this to another human being –
who is a FRIEND OF YOURS? Whatever you are doing right now, you
know that she’s going to get hurt, right DAN?

4. DAN is in shocked. He wouldn’t have believed CARTER would’ve
interpreted it differently like this. He giggles.
DAN
I could never lie to you, and you do know that right? To be
fair, I used to be very upset and jealous of how ANNA treated me
in the past. I thought back to myself, am I going to let that
one stupid incident ruin our 7 years of friendship? I was being
immature and childish for no reason because at the end of the
day, she’ll always be a good friend of mine.
CARTER looks puzzled.
CARTER
So, what is the poster all about?
I can’t tell you much but I promise you it will turn out good
and positive – it's a surprise, that’s all I can say.
CARTER
This is the real DAN that I know. Kind, loving and sweet.
FLASHBACK
DAN’s APARTMENT – BEDROOM
DAN calls REN, one of his close friends from ANNA’s travel
class.
DAN
Hello, REN.
REN
Yes, DAN. What’s up?
DAN
When will you be going to ANNA’s house, anytime soon?
REN
Well, I’m at hers right now, why? What’s the matter?
DAN seems happy. He lets out a joyful relief.
DAN

5. Can you please do me a favour?
ANNA
Right, what is it?
DAN
Can you snake on me, and pretend as if I’m blackmailing ANNA?
And I’m not crazy, I’m doing this for a surprise.
REN laughs at DAN.
You’re so bizarre DAN but okay, I will try my best not to spill
the secret out.
INT – NIGHT – ANNA'S HOUSE
LIVING ROOM
REN shows the poster that DAN has created. ANNA seems shocked.
She cannot believe her eyes.
REN
DAN is blackmailing you, that is what I think. I went to his
room and saw this. I mean, you don’t have to believe me
completely but listen to what I have to say. I’m just saying
what I can see for your own good as you are a friend that I
love.
ANNA adjusts herself, she feels uncomfortable.
ANNA
I’ll have to see myself, thank you for your time, Ren.
INT – DAY
DAN’S APARTMENT – BEDROOM

6. ANNA walks into DAN’S bedroom door as it wasn’t locked. DAN
notices and looks up. ANNA throws the poster on the table.
ANNA
Can you explain what this is, DAN?
DAN acts calm and chilled. He got up from his bed.
DAN
Right - it’s about time, ANNA.
EVERYONE sings a HAPPY BIRTHDAY to ANNA, in union. LIZ enters.
They both hold up a cake for her.
DAN
You see what I mean now. Happy birthday to you, best friend. I’m
sorry for acting weird in the past. It was just all jealousy as
a young kid. You mean a lot to me.
ANNA’s tears slowly drop down her eyes.
ANNA
You nearly hurt my heart, but thank you so much. I am sorry to
you to DAN, sorry if I made you feel uncomfortable and upset in
any way. Thanks to everyone, too.
