You Don't Have to Be Perfect, Chapter 2
1. Hello! Welcome back! Today for your reading pleasure we have
Chapter Two of You Don’t Have To Be Perfect, my Perfect Mother
challenge. There’s a rather extensive list of objectives to
accomplish during the Adult life stage, so we’d best get to it right
away.
The title of the challenge comes from a series of public service ads
here in the States encouraging people to adopt older children from
foster care rather than babies. They say “You don’t have to be
perfect to be a perfect parent,” which is what I’m going for here.
2. Allyn started out by moving into a little starter home with room to
raise a family. There’s not enough room for a driveway on the lot,
which means that I won’t be able to complete one of the objectives
on the list unless the family hits the lottery, but there are plenty of
other objectives I can shoot for.
This lot is a base game starter by andrewgloria over on MTS, and
it’s really quite nice, although the base game décor options were a
bit limited.
3. The first thing Allyn did on moving in was call Ryan Wheeler (her
boyfriend – remember him?) and invite him over.
4. The second thing she did was get engaged to him.
This is an objective, so that’s a nice checkmark, but neither Allyn
nor Ryan cared about that. Allyn is Family, and I forget what
Ryan’s aspiration is, but he got +5,000 for the engagement anyway.
I’m sure you can guess what the third thing Allyn did was.
5. Well, of course it was have breakfast! How are you supposed to
have a decent wedding party on an empty stomach?
You aren’t, that’s how. It’s impossible.
6. And they did have a real wedding party – they rented a wedding
arch for the front room and everything!
7. Allyn’s whole family came. That’s her cousin Winifred in the white
dress and her aunt Rebecca in the pink and purple dress. The fellow
in the tux with the boutonnière is Winifred’s fiancé, and the other
two visible males are friends of Ryan.
8. Changing the camera angle slightly, we see Allyn’s uncle Pong and
her other cousin Melanie, who took a great interest in the
proceedings.
9. Here we have Allyn talking with her sister Georgiana. They don’t
look particularly alike, but that’s because Allyn is adopted.
10. Allyn’s mother Anastasia did attend the party, but she spent the
whole thing playing with the dog instead of watching the
proceedings.
Anastasia was Romance most of her life and historically has not
thought much of marriage. That would be why Allyn and Georgiana
don’t have a father in their lives.
The dog came from the pet shelter, and in addition to being a cutie,
he fulfills another challenge requirement.
11. The final verdict was that it was a good party, even without much
furniture or a stereo. Or at least I’m pretty sure that Allyn and Ryan
don’t have a stereo…
12. Ryan had a low-level Culinary job, but he lost it the very next day.
13. Ryan was pretty bummed about not being able to wear the
awesome striped shirt with all the pieces of flair anymore.
Fortunately, Allyn had some good news to cheer him up.
14. They need three babies for the challenge, and the first one is on the
way!
15. Now, you may have noticed that Allyn and Ryan were wearing
different clothes in the last couple of pictures than in the earlier
ones. You may also recall from all my previous stories that I
generally put my sims in one outfit and they stay in that one outfit
until the next lifestage, or at least until the next plot point.
This challenge requires you to do certain things every day. It would
be super easy to cheat by taking twelve different pictures of the
same event and calling them twelve different days if I wanted to.
So, to keep myself honest, Allyn and Ryan have different outfits for
every day of the week. Originally, they looked roughly like this.
16. But then I found these awesome coordinated outfits and just had to
have them for Allyn and Ryan. So I changed my mind.
I am allowed to do that if I want. So there.
These are Monday’s outfits.
22. And Sunday’s. The nifty matching set did not have a matching shirt
for this dress – inexplicably – so I just picked an outfit that Ryan
already owned and that I thought looked good with it.
I hope y’all will hold me accountable to changing outfits and being
consistent about the days. Do please bear in mind, though, that
when Allyn is pregnant she will wear whatever maternity outfit the
game gives her.
23. I apparently didn’t take any pictures on Wednesday, so here is a
picture from a community lot, taken while I was playing another
family, of a pregnant Allyn out on the dance floor.
And since I have no Wednesday pictures, we’ve reached the end of
this chapter. Until next time, Happy Simming!
