1. Local Charity Disc Golf Fundraiser
There are many people out there who are looking for a sense of belonging. Wanting a
sense of belonging and a sense that they are making a difference. This Disc Golf charity
event is going to bring people together to create a sense of belonging in the community
by gathering together to support a local charity using the great sport disc golf. This is the
reason why I am reaching out for support in this event.
Background and Purpose
There is an old saying that I like to quote, "It takes a village." This small and simple
quote personally has profound meaning to me and it something truly missing in our
communities today. Looking around you can see how lonely people are, seeking some
form of community or seeking deep friendship. Cigna in 2018 surveyed 20,000
individuals and 54% of them felt that no one person actually knew them well. In addition
to this 40% of those same individuals said they lack companionship and isolated from
other. Seeing this need has struck a chord with me making me ask, how can I make a
difference in this using the skills I know and connections I have. In what ways can a
bunch of individuals be brought together for a common cause and then become
something more than acquaintances. There is no better way to make this happen that
raising funds for those in need and sport.
Proposed Plan of Action
There are a few things in this world that I am truly passionate about in this world and the
event I want to bring to this community combines both of those. I believe there is a
community of people who are lost and looking for a sense of community. This event will
bring together people for a common cause to raise funds for local charities and also raise
funds for local mission trips in the area. The sport of disc golf is the method in which I
plan to execute this event for a few simple reasons; it is cheap, free, and fun. To combine
these two entities will allow funds to be raised for good causes but also showcase a great
new sport to people who would have not maybe experience before.
This event will bring people together from within the community whether it be from local
churches or local disc golf communities for a common cause. Having the event centered
around disc golf will allow those people who may not be strong in any sort of faith to feel
comfortable to participate. The disc golf community certainly is a strong community that
makes a concerted effort to grow the sport in as many ways as possible. Since the sport is
still relatively lesser-known people who find the sport and love it want to share the
experience with as many people. This is a perfect opportunity to use the passionate group
of disc golf members and combine that with the passion people have for local charities
into one event. Pairing this with the church and a local charity will also create a much
better chance to have a larger turn out than other organizations.

Here is a schedule set for the event from the conception of the event to the event starting.

Staffing
For this section I want to go over the major members of the staff that will be needed:
John Smith is head Chairman of the committee and has been heading different charity
events for 15+ years in the Indianapolis area.
Helen Smith will be the Co-Chairman working alongside John for many of these events
for 7+ years background is in business development and logistics. The rest of the
committee members include Doug Cosmo who will be working with logistics, Nina Ness
who is working on the event planning, and Hank Ray and Fredrick Hand are co-leading
as the volunteer coordinators.
Budget
One large benefit of this event there is not a lot of costs associated with running the event
since most of it is volunteered driven.
Item: Cost:
Promotional Gifts/Door prizes $2,500
Promotional material $500
Food/ drinks $1000
Equipment rental tables/tents $250
Fees or insurance $200
Advertising $200
Flyers $100
Total Cost $4750
For this investment and the investment of the volunteers provide the return on this will be
great. Between ticket sales, auctions, and donations this will be a clear return on your
initial investment. Since you are such a well-known presence in the community this will
draw more people to the event and with the backing of a large church organization as
well donations are projected to be 40% return on your investment.
