Who would be the audience
 for your media product?
Our target audience...
The target audience for our film is 11 – 19 year old
females. Molly and myself fit into this demographic so
we know exactly what will appeal to this section of
society. During the planning process of our film we
asked our friends (16 – 17 year old girls) what kind of
film they would want to watch at the cinema. In excess
of 80% said they would prefer to see a romantic drama,
therefore Molly and I took on their views and have
made sure our film opening appeals to girls of our age
group. When we filmed our initial audience feedback,
every member of our age group said they would
actively go to see our film at the cinema.
To ensure we took into account the views of the younger aged girls in our target audience, I asked
my younger siblings (girls aged12 and 14 years old) what films would appeal to them. They said
a film with either a romantic comedy or adventure genre, when asked what they liked about a
romantic comedy, they replied “ It’s sweet watching the relationship unfold and it’s especially
interesting when something unpredictable happens – like when two unlikely people fall in love.”
Molly and I took these opinions on board and have tried to include these elements in our film
opening; e.g. The gradual unfolding of the relationship documented through the scrapbook. When
I showed my sisters the finished product, they both agreed that it would be a film worth watching.
