Question 1
1. Question 1: In what ways does your productuse, develop or
challenge forms and conventionsof real media products?
FirstlyIthinkthat mymediaproduct
challengesforms andconventionsof
real mediaproductsbecause
adventure filmsnevernormallyhave
the two maincharacters as females.
Thisis completelydifferenttothe
start of Piratesof the Caribbean
whichisa real mediaproductof the
same genre.Theirfilmhasverylittle
femalesin.
Anotherwayinwhichmy product

filmsare setinexoticlocationsor
out at seajust like Piratesof the
Caribbeanwhere the openingstarts
inthe highseasof the 19th
century.
Mine challengesthe conventionsof
real mediaproductsas its openingis
setin a normal townin England.
One way mymediaproductusesthe
conventionsof real mediaproducts
isthe use of a close upshotto add
emphasise aroundthe situation.In
Piratesof the Caribbeantheyhave a
close upof a cannon whichallows
the audience toknow that the
cannonis importantintheir
situation.

I alsodevelopedformsand

I have againchallengeda

Therefore Iplaceda TV in the

genre.
4. All in all I think I have challenged real media products more than conformed to them. This is
because I wanted my film to appeal to my target audience more accurately and to find a gap
in my distribution company’s portfoliowhich I have. Having looked at Pirates of the
Caribbean it helped me to find the structure of my film. For example they find something out
which kicks the movie off which is the same of concept of mine because the ring the two
girls find leads them on their adventure. I have challenged forms and conventions as well
because the film is female orientatedwhich differs to the standard action/adventure film. I
have conformed to conventions in terms of my characters being innocent and stumbling
upon their adventure which most adventure film characters do. I also thought about the
lighting of my film and the atmosphere it would create which is very similar to most
adventure films including the two I researched.
