we took a survey of which age was
16-24 most interested in soaps. Asking
24-35 the same number of people of
different ages, we found that the
40-55
most people that answered yes the
55+ do watch soaps was the 16-24
group.
From this we decided that E4 would
be the best channel to broadcast on.

3. In order to make a successful soap I needed to know the type
of trailer audiences wanted. This is what I got from the
audience research

5. To improve the trailer I added title cards. This
was to make the story and narratives clearer to
the audience, and create the atmosphere I
wanted the trailer to have. The also edited in well
with my soundtrack I had used.
I also used Garage Band
software to make the transitions
between the music
smoother, instead of the i-movie
music player.
6. Would you watch the trailer?
Yes
No
I generally got quite a good response from the audience, with the majority
saying they would watch the soap if it came out. This gave me confidence
that the trailer was relatively successful, and that the changes I had made
were for the better.
