3. CHARLIE CHAPLIN (1899 TO 1976)
• He is British comedian actor and filmmaker. He born 16th April 1889 in England.
• He wrote, directed, produced, edited, starred in and composed the music for most in his films. He
was perfectionist performance because he always acting as slapstick in his films without dialogue.
• He created lots of short films during 1910s to 1930s. He created his first length feature film The Kid
(1921) and followed by A Woman of Paris (1923), The Gold Rush (1925) and The Circus (1928).
• However, after 1927 where the talkie are developing and he continued create more films without
dialogue in 1930s because he refused to move on the sounds. He created City Lights (1931) and
Modern Times (1936). But in 1940, He created his first film with dialogue called Great Dictator (1940)
where he was performance Adolf Hitler and speech to the audience with his talking .
• In 1940s, He spend nearly 10 years with controversy because he don’t want create film with dialogue
and his popular has become decrease since 1940.
7. HAROLD LLOYD (1913 TO 1963)
• He is American comedian actor and stunt performer. He born 20th April 1893 in USA.
• His parents were divorce and he lives with his father in California. He acted in theatre since he was
child. In 1912, he was 19 years old and he was the first acting in comedy film. Two years later, he join
Universal Studio to become professional acting, writer and production in his films since 1914.
• He created nearly 200 films with silent and talkie between 1914 and 1947 before move on different
projector Radio.
• He created 12 feature films release in 1920s while Charlie Chaplin release only 4 feature films in
same years. He made more money than Charlie’s because he gets $15.7 million and Charlie gets
$10.5 million. He was become successful in 1920s.
• In 1924, he had his own film production company called The Harold Lloyd Film Corporation
• Two films: Safety Last! (1923) and The Freshman (1925) made him a rich man but the true, he was
sober citizen in real life too and unlikely many of his peers managed to hang on to his money.
9. LAUREL AND HARDY (1927 TO 1955)
• They are American and British comedian actors. Stan Laurel born 16th June 1890 in
England. Oliver Hardy born 18th January 1892 in USA.
• They worked together as one thick and one thin and combative friends. They are
opposite because Oliver is more sensible and Stan is childlike.
• They created lots of short films with slapsticks. After 1930, they started to create a
lot of short film with talkie.
