2. • In the early times, men were the designated hunters of the
tribe and women were the ones who were left in the villages
to ensure that all are well maintained and prepared when
the men get back from hunting. Women usually get the
easier and lighter tasks which defined men as the more
dominant gender.
3. • The dominance of men continued in the 19th century until
feminism was first introduced and tackled through a series of
feminist activities focusing on gender inequalities primary on
acquiring women’s suffrage (right to vote). The wave of feminism
formally began at the Seneca Falls Convention in 1848 when 300
men and women rallied to the cause of equality of women. This
paved way to an idea for women to address the gap of society’s
view of men and women.
4. • Feminism is defined as the gender equality between men and
women politically, economically, and socially. It is where women
began to engage in politics not just by having the right to vote but
the right to be elected as a government official. It is where women
have the equal opportunity in their choice of work and get in
control of their career. It is where oppression on women was
eliminated and were generally accepted as an equal of men in the
society.
5. • There are 3 basic kinds of feminism –
• (1) Radical Feminism,
• (2) Socialist Feminism,
• (3) Cultural Feminism. We will now define each one to
have an idea on their different approaches and views on
feminism.
