capabilities added in the year 2022. Also, the
country is 3rd largest consumer of electricity in
the world. India is committed to increasing its

Hydroelectric power is one of the most important

evident from the current world rank of the country.
The total installed capacity of hydroelectric power in
the country is 5th in the world.
 India’s exploitable hydroelectric potential is
estimated to be 148,701 MW
 The country can add 6,780 MW from hydro
schemes
 It has also identified 56 sites for pumped storage
producing 94,000 MW

5. Wind Power In India
Wind power is also one of the important
renewable energy sources in India and the country
has been developing its capacity to exploit wind
