2. What is an avalanche?
An Avalanche is a tonne of snow launching its way down a
high hill that will bury anything in its way causing a load of
damage.
There similar to a load of rocks falling from a cliff which are
called landslides.
While avalanches are sudden, the warning signs are almost
always numerous before they let loose. Yet in 90% of
avalanche incidents, the snow slides are triggered by the
victim or someone in the victim's party. Avalanches kill
more than 150 people worldwide each year. Most are
snowmobilers, skiers, and snowboarders.
3. World war 1
Avalanches were used as highly
effective weapons during World
War 1. This disastrous weapon
started when lot's of snow fell in
the Alp's during December of
1916.
4. Who Is affected?
Normally, people who live in places
below a snow mountain are affected.
People who also do snow sports and
sometimes people on snow
vacations.
