We decided to mix the original and Kygo’s version to
incorporate performance for the start of my music
video. I have planned to film my partner playing the
piano while the original track is playing for the first 30
seconds.

Parson James is an American singer and songwriter. He is best
known for his song “Stole the Show’ a collaboration with Norwegian
producer Kygo. The genre of his music is mainly pop and electronic.
Kygo is a Norwegian DJ, record producer, musician and song writer.
He received international recognition from remix track “I see fire” by
Ed Sheeran, “Stole the Show” and “Firestone” which has over 450
million views on YouTube and 560 million plays on Spotify.

3. V I D E O S TA R
The video star that will be featured in the music video will be
my partner Glen. I chose him as he has experience of playing
piano and he is also talented as far as lip sync is concerned.

4. THEORIES
Our music video will include aspects of Simon Frith’s
performance theory as Glen will be playing the piano at the
beginning of the video in the studio. The video star may also
break the fourth wall and look directly to the viewers, this is
an element of Andrew Goodwin’s theory. I will use various
camera shots to indicate female gaze.

5. INCORPORATING PERFORMANCE
We will be incorporating performance by including a 30
second clip of the video star playing the piano. Not only will
this look professional but it will also communicate the genre
of the music video as well as its narrative.

6. CONTINGENCY PLAN
If the video quality if poor from our phones, we will then use a
DSLR to shoot the music video. Similarly, if the current video
star is ill or sick, my back up plan is to use my friend
Promise. Also if the weather is rainy or snowy, we will have to
postpone filming for another day.
