What is the Workforce Board?
• The Illinois Workforce Board provides
oversight and strategic leadership to
workforce development programs in order
to further the state’s goals of meeting the
workforce needs of employers and
workers.

What does the Board do?
• Appointed by the governor, the Board is
charged with the task of reviewing the
progress of the state’s workforce
development efforts. It spearheads
various initiatives and is integral in the
development of the policies that implement
them.

Who makes up the Board?
• The Board, in accordance with federal legislation, includes
leaders from business, state agencies, industry, labor,
education and community-based organizations.
• The governor also appoints the Co-Chairs.
– John Rico, President and CEO of Rico Enterprises, serves as
the private sector co-chair.
