etc).

3. Colouring Agents:-
(colourants)
Coloring agents are substances which color other
substances that are devoid of color (transparent,
white, or gray) or change the color of the
substance that already has a different color.
They are also called colourants.
Examples:-
White:- Titanium Dioxide
Blue:-Brilliant Blue, Indigo Carmine
Yellow:-Saffron
Red:-Amarnath carmine

4. Flavoring Agents:-
Flavoring agents are the substance which are
used for mask the unpleasant taste or smell of
medicines or any products.
Examples:- clove oil, glycerin, rose oil, orange
oil, menthol etc.

5. Sweetening Agents:-
(sweeteners)
Sweetening agents are the substance which
provide sweet flavour to the medicines or
any products
Examples:-
Sccharin, Glycyrrhiza, suger,sorbitol etc

6. Preservatives:-
Preservatives are the substance that commonly
added to the pharmaceutical product in order to
prolong shelf life.
In concept, the pharmaceutical
product against microbial prolifiration but doesn’t
compromise product performance.
Types:-

c. Chelating Agents

7. Anti-Oxidants:-
Anti oxidants are the substance which are used to
reduce the oxidation of active compound and
excipients due to formation of free radicals by
using their shelf reducing activity in finished
product.
Examples:-
Butylated hydroxytoluene, Ascorbic Acid, sodium
Editate Etc.

8. Anti-Microbial Agents:-
It is added in product to minimize risk of spoilage and to
kill low levels of contaminants introduced during storage
or repeated use of multidose container.
These agents mainly work by inhibiting the cell wall , cell
membrane growth or other bacterial organelles which
may attack our product.
Examples:-
Benzoic Acid, Methylparabens, Sodium Benzoate

9. Chelating Agents:-
Chelating agents act as preservatives and protect
product by forming complex with it preventing its
deterioration.
Example:-
EDTA(Ethylenediamine tetracetic Acid), Citric Acid
etc .
