According to statistics, suicide rates in India are extremely high, with 95-100 people committing suicide every day. Of these suicides, 40% are among adolescents and young people between the ages of 15-29. Academic pressure is cited as the primary motive for suicide, accounting for 99% of cases among students ages 12-18. While suicide rates have been rising 8% per year for the past decade in India, there remains hope that by supporting each other, the darkness of suicide can be overcome.

4. In 2006, 5,857 students — or 16 a day — committed
suicide across India due to exam stress. And these are
just the official figures

The study (conducted 10 years back) had
found that 16 per cent of Mumbai students
were depressed - that is 2 per cent more
than the students in Boston. It also found
that 8 percent of these were suicidal.
