In China HPP works since 2005 through and with the Poverty Alleviation, Health and
Education systems and is currently working with 12 projects in 3 provinces of China
(Yunnan, Sichuan, Chongqing) within the sectors of Agriculture, Sustainable Rural
Development, Health, Nutrition, Education and Leadership Training. We have benefitted
over 2.9 million people
Position Summary:
The Partnership assistant contribute to and support the team to raise funds for existing
and future projects in the areas of village and community development, preschool
education for vulnerable children, environmental protection, prevention and care of
infectious diseases, and other poverty alleviation projects.
The Partnership Assistant will research possible partners, manage contact database and
mailing lists, prepare meetings, assist in developing programs, assist in translation,
promotion material development and do other administrative office tasks as required .
The Overall Goals
The overall goal of the position is to contribute to the resource mobilization goals of HPP
for social development projects in the area of
*Prevention and care of infectious diseases (e.g. HIV/AIDS, TB)
*Village and Community Development
*Preschool education
*Vocational training and job preparedness
*Environmental protection and greenhouse gas emission reduction
*other poverty alleviation projects as seen fit
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
2. • Responsible for conducting the full range of activities required to perform prospect
internet and publication research.
• Prospect research of about 50 organizations weekly (companies, foundations,
institutions) and identify the ones who have common goals with HPP, and then make a
short written summary of what they do in China, their characteristics, their policy for CSR,
who they have supported previously and with how much, what is their procedure etc.
• Manage contact database and promotion mailings
• Maintain our website technically through service providers
• Assist in research needed for proposal writing.
• Assist with and/or perform economic, policy, and technical research and analyses
relating to agricultural development, rural economic development, early childhood
education, vocational and job-preparedness training, prevention of and treatment for
infectious diseases, and other relevant sectors.
• Provide development input for all written institutional materials (including annual report,
agency brochure, and newsletter)
• Administration duties as clerk and secretary (1/3 of time): scanning of documents,
printing of documents, office supplies and purchases, hotel bookings, etc
• Participate in public events, workshops and conferences
• Perform other relevant duties as assigned by supervisor.
Skills and Knowledge Requirements:
• A passion to change the world and lead in building a harmonious society
• An understanding of HPP’s mission and exposure to the rural development work or
education projects or related social experience
• Ability to work independently as well as in a team in a small office environment
• Knowledge and familiarity with research techniques and database handling
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize tasks to meet project deadlines
• Attention to details
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in public policy, government relations, public health, rural
development, social services or related field and 3 years experience. Equivalent
combination of education and experience acceptable.
• Fluency in English and Chinese, with excellent oral and written skills as well as
bilingual translation ability.
• Must possess a high degree of proficiency with Microsoft Office including Word,
Excel, and Outlook. Powerpoint proficiency preferred.
• Strong interest in world affairs and clear commitment to the aims and values of HPP
• Strong organizational skills and marketing sense, independent, creative, team-
player and ability to work under pressure
• Experience with the public and/or non-profit sector desired.
