2. THE FILMS THAT I HAVE BEEN INSPIRED BY TO
CREATE THE EFFECTS IN ‘FLESHWOUND’ WERE
‘A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET’, ‘NIGHT OF
THE LIVING DEAD’ AND ‘28 DAYS LATER’.
THESE HAVE GIVEN ME DIFFERENT IDEAS TO
CREATE THE ATMOSPHERE IN MY
MOVIE, SUCH AS CAMERA
ANGLES, EDITING, MISE-EN-SCENE AND
SOUND.
3. I HAVE USED CAMERA ANGLES TO CREATE TENSION BY MAKING CLOSEUP
SHOTS OF THE ZOMBIE (IMMY) AND THE VICTIM (ME) AT THE END. THE
FIRST ZOMBIE MOSTLY HAD QUICK SHOTS IN ORDER TO CREATE THE
SHOCK AND JUMPSCARES THAT PEOPLE LIKE (DISCORVERED IN SURVEY)
AND ALSO TO KEEP THE MYSTERY ABOUT WHAT IS ABOUT TO HAPPEN.
CAMERA ANGLES WERE ALSO USED FOR PANIC AND EMOTION, AS THE
MAIN ACTRESS IS RUNNING THROUGH THE FOREST, SUGGESTING PANIC,
AND ALSO WHEN SHE IS TALKING TO HER BOYFRIEND, WHICH SHOWS
EMOTION. THESES WOULD BE CLIPS SUCH AS WHEN THE ACTRESS IS
RUNNING THROUGH THE FOREST, WE FIRST SEE HER FEET, THEN WE SEE
HER HEAD AND SHOULDERS AS IF WE WERE LOOKING THROUGH TREES.
THE CLIPS THAT I HAVE PRODUCED IN ORDER TO CREATE EMOTION
WOULD BE THE TRACKING SHOT OF THE MALE ACTOR WALKING UP TO THE
MAIN ACTRESS, AND ALSO A CLOSE-UP SHOT OF WHEN THE MALE ACTOR
GRABS THE ATRESSES HAND IN ORDER TO STOP HER FROM LEAVING. I
HAD TAKEN SOME OF THESE SHOTS FROM THE MOVIES THAT I HAD
DECONSTRUCTED, SUCH AS THE FEET SHOT FROM NIGHTMARE ON ELM
STREET, AND THE QUICK SHOTS FROM THE START OF 28 DAYS LATER.
4. I HAVE USED EDITING TO CREATE THE RIGHT MOOD FOR THE MOVIE
BY SLOWING DOWN AND MAKING OTHER SHOTS QUICKER. I HAVE
ALSO ADDED EFFECTS TO SOME CLIPS, SUCH AS MAKING THEM
DARKER, OR BOLDER COLOURS. THIS IS TO CREATE THE DIFFERENT
MOODS FOR THE MOVIE, ONE BEING FEAR AND THE OTHER BEING
EMOTION/PITY. IN ONE CLIP, I HAD TO STABILIZE IT IN ORDER FOR
THE AUDIENCE TO BE ABLE TO RECOGNISE WHAT WAS BEING
PRESENTED, WHICH WAS THE BITE MARK ON THE SCTRESSES
SHOULDER. I WOULD HAVE PREFERED TO JUST SLOW THE CLIP
DOWN, BUT THERE WAS TOO MUCH MOVEMENT, AND FOR SOME
REASON THE MAC WOULD NOT PRESENT THE FUNCTION IN ORDER
TO ALTER THE CLIP’S SPEED. THIS WAS PROBABLY DUE TO THE FACT
THAT IT WAS A HARD DRIVE CAMERA FOR THE MAJORITY OF THE
MOVIE, AND FOR THE BEGINING PART I USED A TAPE CAMERA. I
HAVE TAKEN IDEAS FROM THE FILM 28 DAYS LATER WITH THE
QUICK CLIPS OF THE ATTACKER AT THE BEGINNING, TO PRESENT
THE TENSION AND FEAR THAT THE MOVIE WOULD HAVE.
5. I HAVE USED SOUND TO CREATE THE HORROR FEELING IN
MY MOVIE BY STARTING WITH AN ECHOING WIND AS MY
‘SPOOKFLICKS’ PRODUCTION SPALSH IS PRESENTED. IT
GIVES THE FEELING OF TENSION, AS A COLD SOUNDING
WIND IS A COMMON SOUND EFFECT TO HAVE IN HORROR
MOVIES. THE MUSIC THAT I PICKED OUT FROM
FREEPLAYMUSIC.COM CREATED FEAR AS THE FIRST ONE
WAS A STRANGE TUNE, HAVING LITTLE SOUNDS IN IT. THE
SECOND MUSICAL PIECE WAS LIKE A BUILD UP OF
SOMETHING BIG, AS THE PIANO TUNE WAS HIGH, AND
THEN AN ORCHESTRA CREATED THE TENSION JUST BEFORE
THE FILM TITLE WAS PRESENTED. I USED TWO OTHER
SOUND EFFECTS FOR THE FIRST PART OF THE FILM, LIKE
THE ZOMBIE SCREAM AND THE GIRLS SCREAM. THE ZOMBIE
SCREAM WAS ACTUALLY A DINOSAUR ROAR THAT
SOUNDED AS CLOSE AS TO WHAT I WAS HOPING TO GET.
6. THE MISE-EN-SCENE I USED HELPED TO CREATE
THE RIGHT FEELING FOR THE FILM BY KEEPING
THE IDEA THAT THEY ARE FAR AWAY, DEEP IN A
FOREST. THIS MAKES PEOPLE WONDER HOW
THEY GOT THERE, BUT ALSO IT GIVES THEM THE
IDEA THAT THERE IS NOWHERE TO RUN OR HIDE,
AND THERE IS ONLY THE FOREST. THE IDEA TO
HAVE THE FILM IN THE FOREST DIDNT COME
FROM ANY OF THE FILMS THAT I HAD
DECONSTRUCTED, BUT I THOUGHT IT WAS A
UNIQUE LOCATION TO HAVE TO START A ZOMBIE
APOCALYPSE FILM.
