3. Limited interactivity: If there was any intera
ctivity on websites it was almost completely
text based and usually took the form of sen
ding in an email, basic text chat
4. Expensive software: Most creative work bei
ng done on computers was done using exp
ensive software which was complex to learn
and had to be bought on discs and installe
d on the hard drive

platforms such as YouTube, Digg, Blogger , et

bled much of the changes that have occurred

that we do online for students to access from any
where.

out downloading.
v. It helps to improve reading, writing, listening and
speaking skills.

for general dicussions.

4. In this way It helps to improve reading, writing,
listening and speaking skills.

1. It is more formal way of communication
2. We can send email to the person whose email id is
known to us
3. Generally it requires same format of application writ
ing in which we are adding subjects, complimentary
close, salutation etc.
4. We can send images without losing its quality.
5. We can share documents, links, pdf, audio, video et
c.
6. It helps to improve writing, reading, listening skills.

Conclusion
This presentation is intended as simple introduction to some
free Web 2.0 type tools that can be used by teachers who a
re interested in using technology in language teaching. The
tools presented here are just the tip of the iceberg. New too
ls are emerging all the time, many not originally intended fo
r education, but which can be put to good use by students
and teachers alike to extent opportunities, enhance learning
potential and develop the level of digital literacy that studen
ts will need for the 21st century

  • 2. WEB 1.0 and 2.0: Difference 1. Text based ʻhtmlʼ: The early web was largel y driven by text based content formated wit h a simple programming language called ʻht mlʼ 2. Slow connection speeds : Most visitors wer e using slow dial up connections which mad e downloading large files such as video or a udio incredibly slow. 3. Limited interactivity: If there was any intera ctivity on websites it was almost completely text based and usually took the form of sen ding in an email, basic text chat 4. Expensive software: Most creative work bei ng done on computers was done using exp ensive software which was complex to learn and had to be bought on discs and installe d on the hard drive 1. Platform based services: Instead of providin g content, many web companies now provide platforms such as YouTube, Digg, Blogger , et c 2. Speed - Broadband connectivity and high spe ed wireless and mobile connections have ena bled much of the changes that have occurred . 3. Complex social interactions : Interaction thr ough websites and web services have becom e much more complex and users can now sh are a vast array of content and information a nd collaborate for more rapidly and easily 4. It enables us to create presentations with a series of slides and embed video, audio and images into the slides. iii. We can use it to put any classroom presentations that we do online for students to access from any where. iv. It enables us to add media into our materials with out downloading. v. It helps to improve reading, writing, listening and speaking skills.

We can add images in between of text. 4. We can add video clips by embedd ing link 5. It helps to improve writing, reading , listening skills.
  • 9. 6. Facebook 1. Facebook is a free communication platf orm that works in the browser, as well a s in app. 2. we need to register and create an acco unt. 3. We can also create a profile too which will help others to locate us and so hel p us to build up a network of contacts. 4. We could use the video call to cast ou r lessons to a group of distance learner s. 5. It helps to improve reading, writing, list ening skills.
  • 10. 7. Watsapp 1. It is widely used social media app 2. We can chat with our friends and create groups for general dicussions. 3. We can send audio clips,recorded voice, video, images, documents, pdf, important links, contac ts through watsapp. 4. In this way It helps to improve reading, writing, listening and speaking skills.
  • 11. 8.Gmail 1. It is more formal way of communication 2. We can send email to the person whose email id is known to us 3. Generally it requires same format of application writ ing in which we are adding subjects, complimentary close, salutation etc. 4. We can send images without losing its quality. 5. We can share documents, links, pdf, audio, video et c. 6. It helps to improve writing, reading, listening skills.

  • 13. Conclusion This presentation is intended as simple introduction to some free Web 2.0 type tools that can be used by teachers who a re interested in using technology in language teaching. The tools presented here are just the tip of the iceberg. New too ls are emerging all the time, many not originally intended fo r education, but which can be put to good use by students and teachers alike to extent opportunities, enhance learning potential and develop the level of digital literacy that studen ts will need for the 21st century
