their judgements. The Crucible is a very realistic event. The way the word, crucible is defined is "a situation of severe trial, or in which different
elements interact, leading to the creation of something new." In our world, there are many events that can connect to The Crucible. Such as, the events

whole play is pretty much a metaphor for it. In The Crucible, people claim that there are witches and that they are possessed by the Devil. In
McCarthyism, random people were accused of being communists. If you didn't like someone all you had to do was lie and say they were
communists. The same was true in the Crucible. One guy in the play, accuses someone of being a witch because he wanted his land. Another

The women that they went to did not confess first but then later on she explained that she was forced and could not help herself. Abigail on the
other hand blames more than one person and it makes them get executed just because of Abigail. I know you're not supposed to read the book but

The Crucible Essay Rough Draft A crucible is a container which is heated to separate impurities mainly from metals and sometimes other substances.
Arthur Miller's play, The Crucible, takes place in a quiet Massachusetts town known as Salem. Rumors of witchcraft, however have unfortunately left
the townspeople susceptible to blame one another. A quiet town virtually turned in a mad haven for blame, revenge, and dark satisfaction overnight.
The reader witnesses all of these events unfold as they delve into the story of The Crucible and reveal how revenge reveals the motives of many
characters. The story of The Crucible takes place in Puritan Massachusetts during the colonial times. It starts off with Abigail Williams and her friends
Hale requires everyone who is accused of being a witch to go to court and agree that they are witches in order to prevent being hanged. If they admit
that they aren't a witch they would be hanged immediately. Hale seems to be very involved with the accusations, questioning those that are accused
everything they know about god and the church (asking Hale to recite the 10 commandments, questioning the victims' attendance in church, baptism,
and things he sees as strange). When Hale goes to John Proctor's house we witness the interrogation process: "I thought, sir, to put some questions as to
the Christian character of this house, if you'll permit me...I note that you are rarely in the church on Sabbath day...how comes it that only two [boys]
are baptized" (2.621–671)? Later on in the play, when Proctor is testifying in court, they mystery starts to unravel inside of Hale's head. At the end of
Proctor's trial, he yells that he no longer supports what is going on after Judge Danforth is unwilling to listen to Proctor's testimony that the whole thing
is pretense: "I denounce these proceedings, I quit this court" (3.1499–1500)! He is ashamed that everything he has been trying to find was false and
made up by Abigail. We see that in the jail scene he is begging Goody Proctor to have her husband confess in order to save his life: "Will you plead for
his confession or will you not" (4.486–487)? This dynamic character change truly captures how Hale has changed since the

Puritans had a strict and disciplined lifestyle that was live to achieve the grace of God. They believed that people that were sinners, liars, and
adulterers were damned in the eyes of God. In The Crucible the main antagonist was Abigail. She showed tendencies to be spiteful, jealous, and
vengeful.
One of the main antagonist was Abigail Williams, Abigail would use her spitefulness to blame other people she showed hate too. In the text it states,
"she is blackening my name in the village! She is telling lies about me! She is a cold, sniveling woman, and you bend her! (Miller 22). What abigail
was saying is that Elizabeth Proctor is trying to ruin Abby's name in the village. In the text it states, "don't lie! To Hale: she comes to me while i
sleep; she's always making me dream corruptions!.. Sometimes i wake and find myself standing in the open doorway and not stitch on my body! I
always hear her laughing in my sleep. I hear her singing her barbados songs and tempting me–(Miller 41). Abigail is trying to blame tituba because

The Crucible Character Analysis In The Crucible by Arthur Miller, John Proctor, the protagonist, is a farmer in his middle thirties. The author gives
little to no detailed physical description of him, but from Proctor's speech, we can still picture him as a strong and powerful man who is able to keep
every situation under the control, the kind of personality which earns him deep respect and even fear from the people in town. On the other hand,
Abigail Williams, the antagonist, plays an inferior role as an orphan who has no social status in a place like Salem. Over the course of the play,John

reputation. Unlike many naive villains in other literatures, Abigail sets out a meticulous scheme to frame Elizabeth. First, she witnesses Mary
Warren leaving a needle in a doll. Then she "[sticks] two inches [of a needle] in the flesh of her belly"(pg. 203) to frame Elizabeth of performing
witchcraft. So mendacious is Abigail that she is willing to injure herself to accomplish her plan. Under her beautiful appearance also lays a
manipulative heart. She is capable of manipulating not only the girls into doing things her way, but also the members of the court to her advantage.
When questioned by Danforth whether the spirits she has seen are illusion, Abigail steps it up a notch by making the members of the court feel sorry
for her and madly refutes, "I have been near to murdered every day because I done my duty pointing out the Devil's people–and this is my reward? To
be mistrusted, denied, questioned like a–" (Pg.210) This, following by Elizabeth's failure to tell the truth and the girl's verisimilar acting toward the
"yellow bird", further demonstrates her manipulative power which brings the court in her favor. Altogether, many
