Americans like to hide thoughts of the bad in society, one of these thoughts often hid or forget about is drug trafficking. Drug trafficking effects
everyone from the one–percent down to the people of poverty. Billions of dollars of drugs are bought and sold, with billions more being spent to fight
the trafficking of illicit drugs in the United State. With all the money spent to prevent drug trafficking Americans need to understand the harmful
effects. Drug Trafficking is causing harm to the United States economically, brings violence to communities, and puts law enforcement in unnecessary

The communities were not only in urban populations, there were reports from rural Sheriff Departments of gang that would publicly acknowledge
themselves. This is a very concerning truth to people who live in rural areas, the spread of gangs brings drugs and violence to once safe communities.
In a 2009 ABC News article, up to one million gang members are to blame for eighty percent (80%) of crime in the United States [3]. In a 2008 speech
given by Former FBI Director Robert Muller said "Chicago law enforcement estimates there are at least 60,000 gang members in the community –– far
outnumbering police officers. There are hundreds of homicides each year, the majority of which are gang–related." [3]. The realization of criminal
organization and gang's outnumbering law enforcement is a scary thought, how do law enforcement agencies stop a problem when there are more
criminals than officers. Through community outreach programs, and by citizens alerting law enforcement to possible gang or other criminal
organization activities the public can help stop the spread of drug trafficking, drug related violence, and the spread of gangs and other criminal
organizations into their communities.

that is spent, this gives the drug trafficker an advantage over the government that has a small budget. Illegal drugs are considered to be a major source
of funding for organized crime. The Canadian government has attempted to address these problems by implementing a national drug strategy, which is
meant to reduce the demand for and the supply of illicit drugs. Eleven federal government departments and agencies have spent approximately $500

Some immigrants are even recruited, they do this because drug smugglers fund their way into the United States. So many people are desperate to get

undergone. The article splits the trends and/or patterns into eight key elements. Not to delve too deep into all 8, to summarize some, the eight keys go
from the increased globalization of drug consumption all the way to the growth in sup– port for harm reduction, decriminalization and legalization
policy alternatives (legalization de– bate) (Bagley, 2015, p.1). This article does a great job of depicting all eight keys in equal terms of importance to
the drug trafficking evolution. Covering all the countries in South America, this article gives great information for each one and their own
involvement in the drug trafficking world. It even goes as far as to detail certain individuals who were more or less single handily the reason for their

Drug trafficking is the selling, distributing, and transporting of illegal substances. Involving drugs such as heroin, cocaine, and marijuana. If caught, a
person may endure jail time along with having their assets taken away. These punishments are due to the amount of risks that are involved within the
issue. Drug trafficking has become associated with addictive problems. Mostly involving young adults. This then brings up many concerning issues.
One being the increasing rate of seizures per year revolving around the use of drugs. However that is only one of the numerous problems drug
trafficking has brought to today's society. The history of drug trafficking began mostly in Columbia and has spread across to Mexico and many more
places. Because of its spreading drugs have often fallen into the wrong hands. Resulting in young adults being the highest percentage of people that
end up contributing to the chain of drug trafficking. The easily made money outweighs the cost when it comes to young adults deciding to spend
most of their time as a drug dealer. Although, it has come to a point where the federal government can decide whether they wish to claim a substance
as controlled. Meaning that the distribution and use of the substance is governed by law. The states do however have the right to state their own set of
drug laws apart from the federal government. The modern era, most people are familiar with the World Wide Web because they use it every day
