3. WHAT IS HAIR?
• Is a protein filament that grows from follicles found in the
dermis or skin.
• Is one of the defining characteristics of mammals.
• An important biomaterial primarily composed of protein,
notably keratin.
5. HERBAL COSMETICS
• The word cosmetic was derived from the Greek word “ kosm
tiko” meaning Having the power , arrange skill in decorating.
• Herbal cosmetics, hereby in after referred as products, are
formulated using various permissible cosmetics ingredients to
form the bases in which one or more herbal ingredients are
used to provide defined cosmetics benefits only, shall be called
as “herbal cosmetics”.
• Herbal products are safe because they are natural (can be
harmful if consumed improperly or in excessive amount).

8. HERBAL HAIR OIL
• Hair oils are the care formulations applied for cure of hair
disorders such as baldness, greying of hairs, hair falling, and
dryness of hairs.
• This preparation is generally used to increase the growth of
hair & remains healthy.
• The principle of herbal hair oil is : oil+ heat+ herbs
Hair oil should having following properties:
They should give luster to the hair.
Retain them soft & flowing, keep the brain cool.
Should not be sticky.
Prevent intense drying from environment.
Replace lost proteins, moisture, nutrients.
9. Method of preparation
• Accurately weigh all the dried and fresh herbs.
• All the herbs were grinded in the mixture and mixed in 63% of
essential oil.
• The above content was boiled for 15 minutes. And was filtered
through muslin cloth.
• To the filtrate essential oil was added to mix up the volume.
11. HERBAL HAIR TONIC
• Hair tonic are usually liquid preparation, which promote scalp
health and help to achieve strong, soft and shinny hair.
• Herbal hair tonic is formulated from the finest herbs.

13. HERBAL SHAMPOO
• Shampoo is the preparation of surfactant in suitable form of
liquid, solid or powder- when used under the condition
specified will remove surface grease, dirt, and skin debris from
the hair shaft or scalp.
14. Method of preparation
• Collect the herbal drug in powdered form.
• The powdered material was extracted with distilled water by
boiling for 4 hrs. the extract of each plant material was
separated and evaporated.
• To the gelatin solution (10%),added the herbal extract and
mixed by shaking continuously at the time interval of 20min.
1ml of lemon juice was also added with constant stirring.
• To improve aroma in the formulation, sufficient quantity of
essential oil (rose oil) was added and made up the volume to
100 ml with gelatin.
16. HERBAL HAIR CONDITIONER
• Conditioner that adds shine to the hair and make it tangle free.
After shampoo, its important to use hair condition to give
increased manageability to hair leaving it soft and shiny .
• The first and foremost purpose of conditioner is to moisture
the hair and scalp.

18. HAIR LOTION
• Hair lotion has a stimulating effect upon the hair follicles. They
are generally perfumed with oil of rosemary as it posses as
good stimulating property.
19. HAIR COLORANT
• These are herbal preparations which is used for coloring of
the hairs. They enhances the attractiveness of grey hair. They
are applied externally on he hair with the help of brush.
20. Method of preparation:
• Reetha, coffee , tea, shikakai, amla, bhringraj, kikkar and
jatamansi all in the powdered form.
• Henna leaves and the flowers of hibiscus were shade dried and
coarsely powdered.
• Then all the ingredients were mixed uniformly to prepare a
homogenous formulation.
