Slovenian mindfulness practice shared in the second teacher training of our Erasmus + project: happy people will change the world, held in Ezernieki (Latvia)
3. Happy people will
change the world
When are we happy?
Human happiness is strongly associated with activity in
nature.
Children can be fully concentrated on their game, we just
have to enable them to play.
4. GOALS:
mobility in nature;
games, relaxation;
trying out something unusual, new;
developing trust in each other;
developing self-trust;
getting to know the world without eyesight;
mindful movement of partners
concentration
feeling the moment
body awareness
5. In April we conducted
the trust playground
during sports.
1. We talked about how much they trust each other and themselves.
2. I introduced them to the game Playground of trust, in which pupils lead
each other pairwise through a simple playground. One of the pair has tied
eyes, is „blind“, the other is his guardian and leader.
3. The most important rule is the safety of the „blind“.
4. The second rule is: we communicate only with touches – without words.
6. 1st STOP:
We started on a very stable stone bench, where the
leading pupil lead the „blind“ and helped him to
stand on the bench, walk its length and step down.
7. 2nd STOP
The playground game continued through walking on a longer and thinner
bench, which was a bit more wobbly.
During this exercise we used helpers that made the bench more stable.
Caution should be aplied so that the pair didn‘t step beside the bench, as
they could fall.
8. 3rd STOP
Lead the „blind“ around the house.
They were allowed to touch different structures,
surfaces, shapes or were just lead around.
9. 4th STOP
The „blind“ had to crawl under an obstacle.
The pupils were introduced to all the stops before the game and
they could skip a stop if they couldn‘t get their clothes dirty.
Nobody actually admitted this problem, however I don‘t know what,
their mothers thought of it.
Without spectific instructions they were very careful with the heads
of each other.
10. 5th STOP
Swinging with tied eyes.
First the „blind“ needed to be well accomodated on the
swing, only then he was swung back and forth.
11. 6th STOP
We used everything that was available, so the see-saw
for two was used – for blind swinging in pairs.
12. A FAST RUN FROM 6th TO
7th STOP
At this stage the trust between the pupils was
completely established.
Everybody was sprinting with full speed with tied eyes.
13. 7th STOP – THE END
A slalom between cut trees and their roots. The final
challenge of our playground…
It was a great experience for all!
