1. FEAR THROUGH FORMAL ARTS…
CUBIST PORTRAITS
Objectives:
1. To talk about fear as a topic in classical arts, and through different styles
and artists.
2. To make a cubist portraits exhibition, to show fear faces with the drawings
of the students of second course.
3. To talk and notice the importance of the own face for showing all the
emotions to the rest of the people, including fear.
Description:
1. We talk about some different artists, and how they treated “fear”, as a topic
or a motivation in their paintings, sculptures, étc… along history and through
different styles.
2. We talk about cubism, and then about Pablo Picasso as a referent of
cubism. Then we see some of his famous paintings on the digital board by
using the Internet, or watching the video, or even by using some colourful
printed images too.
3. We connect the cubist remarked lines and strokes of the portrait to make a
portrait capable of showing strong emotions, such as fear…
4. We change the expression on the face of the famous cubist portrait from
Picasso,to express fear, and then they strongly colour it using wax crayons,
mostly the colours that they think that should express fear better.
5. Finally, we organize our class exhibition near the “Fear monster” (the black
one) from the “Colours Monster Book”. And we take some photos of the
exhibition.
