History
 (IPL) is a professional Twenty-20 cricket league in India.
 The league is officially known as the Vivo Indian Premier League
 The league was founded by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in
2007.
 The IPL is the most-attended cricket league in the world and ranks sixth among
all sports leagues.
 The IPL became the first sporting event in the world to be broadcast live
on YouTube.
Foundation
 It was initiated by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in 2007.
 Headquartered in Mumbai.
 The IPL supervised by BCCI vice president “Rajeev Shukla” who serves as the
league’s chairman and commissioner
 It is contested by Eight team, consisting of player from around the world.
 It was started after an altercation between the BCCI and the India Cricket league.

 Sunrisers Hyderabad
 Royal Challengers Bangalore
 Rising Pune
 Mumbai Indians
 Kolkata Knight Riders
 Kings XI Punjab
 Gujarat Lions
 Delhi Daredevils
Tournament seasons and results
 Out of the thirteen teams those have played in the Indian Premier League since
its inception.
 The Chennai Super Kings, Kolkata Knight Riders, and Mumbai Indians are the
most successful teams in league's history in terms of the number of titles won.
The other three teams who have won the tournament are the Deccan
Chargers, Rajasthan Royals and Sunrises Hyderabad.
 The Chennai Super Kings is the only team to have won the tournament and then
defended it the next season, winning in 2010 and winning again in 2011.
 The current champions are Sunrises Hyderabad who beat Royal Challengers
Bangalore in the final of the 2016 season.
IPL Revenue
 According to BCCI, the 2015 IPL season contributed ₹11.5 billion (US$182 million)
to the GDP of the Indian economy.
 The value of brand IPL has jumped to $4.16 billion after the 2016 edition, against
$3.54 billion in 2015.
 According to the Annual Review of Global Sports salaries by
sportintelligence.com , IPL is the second highest league based on first-team
salaries on pro rata basis, second only the NBA.
 Average salary of every IPL player would be $3.95 million.
IPL AD Revenue
 Advertising Revenue for broadcaster have seen a steady increase
since inception of IPL.
 IPL 2008 – 3 Lakh for every 10 SEC
 IPL 2009 – 4 Lakh for every 10 SEC
 IPL 2010 – 5 Lakh for every 10 SEC
 IPL 2012 – 6 Lakh for every 10 SEC
 IPL 2014 – 7 Lakh for every 10 SEC
 IPL 2016 – 7.5 Lakh for every 10 SEC
Prize money
 The 2015 season of the IPL offered a total prize money of ₹40
crore (US$5.9 million), with the winning team netting ₹15 crore (US$2.2 million).
 The first and second runners up received 10 and 7.5 crores, respectively, with the
fourth placed team also winning 7.5 crores.
 The others teams are not awarded any prize money.
 The IPL rules mandate that half of the prize money must be distributed among
the players.
Individual awards
 Orange Cap
The Orange Cap is awarded for the top run-scorer in the IPL during
a season. It is an ongoing competition with the leader wearing the cap throughout
the tournament until the final game, with the eventual winner keeping the cap for
the season.
 Purple Cap
The Purple Cap is awarded for the top wicket-taker in the IPL. It is an
ongoing competition with the leader wearing the cap throughout the tournament
until the final game, with the eventual winner keeping the cap for the season.
IPL Governing Council
 The IPL Governing Council is responsible for all the functions of the tournament.
 The members are Rajeev Shukla, Ajay Shirke, Sourav Ganguly, Anurag
Thakur, Anirudh Chaudhry.
 In Jan 2016, the Supreme Court appointed Lodha Committee to recommend
separate governing bodies for the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and
the Indian Premier League (IPL), where Justice RM Lodha suggested a One State-
One Member pattern for the board.
Strength
 The IPL is based upon the twenty20 cricket game which should be completed in
3 hours. That make it very appealing as mass sport, just like American sport
Football , basketball, and soccer.
 The IPL has employed economists to structure it’s lead so that revenue is
maximized.
Weakness
 Twenty20 has been very so popular that it could replace other form of cricket.
 Some fans will have also pay for travel the ground. There may be some distance
were the fans lives and cricket ground.
 Stakes are very high.

Foundation  It was initiated by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in 2007.  Headquartered in Mumbai.  The IPL supervised by BCCI vice president “Rajeev Shukla” who serves as the league’s chairman and commissioner  It is contested by Eight team, consisting of player from around the world.  It was started after an altercation between the BCCI and the India Cricket league.

Tournament seasons and results  Out of the thirteen teams those have played in the Indian Premier League since its inception.  The Chennai Super Kings, Kolkata Knight Riders, and Mumbai Indians are the most successful teams in league's history in terms of the number of titles won. The other three teams who have won the tournament are the Deccan Chargers, Rajasthan Royals and Sunrises Hyderabad.  The Chennai Super Kings is the only team to have won the tournament and then defended it the next season, winning in 2010 and winning again in 2011.  The current champions are Sunrises Hyderabad who beat Royal Challengers Bangalore in the final of the 2016 season.

IPL Revenue  According to BCCI, the 2015 IPL season contributed ₹11.5 billion (US$182 million) to the GDP of the Indian economy.  The value of brand IPL has jumped to $4.16 billion after the 2016 edition, against $3.54 billion in 2015.  According to the Annual Review of Global Sports salaries by sportintelligence.com , IPL is the second highest league based on first-team salaries on pro rata basis, second only the NBA.  Average salary of every IPL player would be $3.95 million.

Prize money  The 2015 season of the IPL offered a total prize money of ₹40 crore (US$5.9 million), with the winning team netting ₹15 crore (US$2.2 million).  The first and second runners up received 10 and 7.5 crores, respectively, with the fourth placed team also winning 7.5 crores.  The others teams are not awarded any prize money.  The IPL rules mandate that half of the prize money must be distributed among the players.

IPL Governing Council  The IPL Governing Council is responsible for all the functions of the tournament.  The members are Rajeev Shukla, Ajay Shirke, Sourav Ganguly, Anurag Thakur, Anirudh Chaudhry.  In Jan 2016, the Supreme Court appointed Lodha Committee to recommend separate governing bodies for the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the Indian Premier League (IPL), where Justice RM Lodha suggested a One State- One Member pattern for the board.
