In 1954 the supreme court outlawed segregated public education facilities
of blacks and whites at state level.
The Civil War act of 1964 ended all state and local laws requiring
Segregation.

people would use legal and illegal means to deprive African Americans of
their rights
In the north Segregation continued
There the African Americans lived in bad urban neighborhoods
They were also unable to find jobs
