DepEd Sets Placement Exam for Out-of-School Youth in June and November
1. The Department of Education
announces that the Philippine
Educational Placement Test (PEPT)
will be administered regularly by the
Bureau of Education Assessment
(BEA). The test administration will be
assisted by division and school
personnel in designated examination
centers nationwide scheduled on the
second Sunday of June and on the
fourth Sunday of November.
As stipulated in DepEd Order No.
55, s. 2016, the PEPT is a nationally
administered assessment for learners
in special circumstances under the
Accreditation and Equivalency
Program which aims to retrieve Out-of-
School Youth (OSY) learners to access
or resume to schooling and obtain
certification of completion by grade
level in the DepEd Formal System.
The results of the assessment
are used for validating and accrediting
knowledge and skills in academic
areas gained through informal and
non-formal means for re-entry into
formal school, job promotion, entry to
job training, for employment and self-
fulfillment.
The program caters to Filipino
learners from non-formal and informal
educational programs, learners who
have incomplete or no record of formal
schooling, learners with two back
subjects or one failed subject in
learning areas such as English,
Filipino, Math, Science, and Araling
Panlipunan, learners who need grade
level standard assessment, learners
who are overage for their grade level
and learners from private schools
without government permit/recognition.
The requirements for the
assessment include photocopy of birth
certificate issued by the Philippine
Statistics Office (PSA) or Local Civil
Registrar, two identical pictures (size 1”
x 1”), original copies of school records,
duly signed School Form 10 by the
school head with school seal for Junior
High School level registrants and
School Form 9 for Elementary level
registrants. For registrants from private
schools, they must provide a
photocopy of the schools’ government
permit/recognition aside from the
above-mentioned requirements.
DepEd will be charging a non-
refundable fee of Php 50.00 for the
regular examination in November to
each applicant. On the other hand, the
placement exam to be conducted on
June 12 is free by virtue of the
celebration of the Philippine
Independence Day.
