2. Too close by Alex Claire is a
dubstep; alternative rock; soul
style song. The video is split
between a performance and a
action sequence. The action
sequence consists of two
characters having a heated
duel. Aside from the action
sequence there is no clear
narrative. During the song it
jumps between soul and
electronic; when the soul is on
it is more about the
performance of Alex Claire, but
when the electronic chorus
comes the editing picks up and
focuses more on the action.
Video concept
3. Camera and editing
There has been a lot of work been
done to make sure that the action
video is entertaining. In the
editing they have chosen slow
motion sequence to show the
majesty of the fight so that the
audience can appreciate it. to add
effect to the lyrics and they have
close ups of the artists to show the
passion that he is putting into the
music. A lot of the fight sequence
is fought in a darkly lit room. This
is to show the imminent danger
that they are in. it is a sign of
them blocking out their emotions
so that they can beat their
opponent. They is fast pace
editing which contrast with the
music and the action.
4. They add significates to one
fighter who has red rope
draping down his back. Since
the other character is wearing
completely black the audience
will bonding with the character
who has a little bit of a
personality which the red rope
symbolises. They have the artist
dressed in a light colour so that
he is symbolised as the most
important person in the music
video; almost like he is
controlling the situation. He is
talking about a relationship
which isn't working out because
getting too close to them and a
fight breaks out between them
in the broken environment.
Mise-en-scene and representation of the
character/artist
