Total number of answers 8 2
Interpretation of self-diagnosis results:
1. Fewer than 5 answers checked “yes,” indicate your communication is deficient, which can
generate conflicts among people, as well as frustration and lack of motivation.
2. 6 to 8 answers checked “yes” indicate you have good communication, but it could
improve. Remember that the work environment is characterized by peace and the
assurance of achieving results.
3. More than 8 answers checked “yes” indicate your communication as excellent. Thanks to
this, your coworkers and collaborators feel motivated and willing to keep improving
because the organization objectives are clear and feedback is given so they can improve
their performance.
2. Questions for reflection:
1. What positive behaviors could you identify in the way you communicate?
I could identify several positive behaviors in the way I communicate, which include: the seek
to adequate blocks of time to engage in peaceful dialogue to solve conflicts in a productive
way, to communicate clearly, directly, and respectfully with my bosses, directors, and/or co-
workers, to listen carefully and respectfully so I can understand my managers, directors,
and/or co-workers at work meetings, to clearly, directly and respectfully bring a matter to a
colleague’s attention if needed, and to give recognition to my colleagues well done activities
in order to motivate them.
2. What behaviors of yours do you feel need improving?
Personally, I believe that I need to improve in a couple of behaviors, which include: To set
aside periods of time to establish my goals and evaluate my performance and that of my
collaborators.
3. How do you think your way of communicating affects people and results?
Honestly, I have always considered that communication is the basis of everything, where I
believe that to have a good relationship you must have good communication, either from a
personal or professional point of view. Having good communication tends to affect people in
a positive way, including an increase in motivation, performance, and therefore, the
profitability of the organization.
4. What factors do you think influence the way you communicate with others?
The factors that I think have an influence on the way I communicate with others include: the
cultural factor (language, religion, customs), the situational factor (work, physical, and social
environment), and the developmental factor (physical, cognitive, and emotional).
5. What conclusions can you make based on these observations that will allow you
to improve your communication as a leader, both in the work environment and in
your personal environment?
Based on the observations previously mentioned, I consider that I am positioned in a good
place overall, where I understand the importance of communication in both, the personal and
professional field, as well as the way to make it effective in order to obtain the desired results
while those involved are motivated to participate. On the other hand, I am aware of the areas
of opportunity that I have to improve, where both have reference in terms of giving me the
time to establish my goals and evaluate my performance and that of my collaborators.
Behavior chosen for improvement:
I chose as a behavior to improve the practice of evaluating performance, either personal or
towards my collaborators, but I believe I should give myself the time to practice this exercise
more frequently, where I know that evaluating performance generates great benefits such as
identifying the areas of opportunity to improve, as well as increasing motivation when having
a good performance, and therefore continue to progress.
3. Actions to improve the chosen behavior. (Evaluated within a specific period of time.)
In order to improve the aforementioned behavior, I commit myself to carry out 3 actions from
this moment, which are:
1. Have a weekly meeting with my collaborators, in which there will be a feedback in
reference to the performance of each one of us, where jointly we can decide actions that
can be carried out to improve the areas of opportunity identified, as to continue with what
is being done well.
2. Every night before going to sleep, reflect and analyze the decisions made on the day, and
determine how these decisions affected not only my person, but also everyone involved.
This practice will help me to be more empathetic, and also to evaluate my performance in
daily life, with the hope of growing and achieving new accomplishments in the future.
3. Create an annual summary statement of my overall performance and the goals that I have
for next year, this script will help me to observe from a general overview the performance
I have had in each of the aspects of my life, where it will help me to determine actions to
take in order to improve the areas that need a little more work, while It will also help me
plan new goals to achieve for the following years.
